In every McLame clip shown today he asks veterans at his speeches to raise their hands, as if most of us support him.

No more then 3 months ago he said that some of us will have to take cuts in V.A. benefits because the service people coming back require more resources. No mention in adequate funding, just cuts in benefits we earned.

When I hear this dipshit say that my hand raises too, middle finger proudly extended.

This picture was taken when I was around 21, in the Persian Gulf during the Iranian Hostage Crisis.

Thirty year later.

Vets, post a picture of yourself during your service to our country.

LOL. I was on the Air Force (My dad did two tours in the AF) waiting list. I got fed up after two months and joined the Navy.

4. I was born into the Air Force
born and raised on Air Force bases, daughter of a USAF meteorologist. I must say that sailors, however, were always my favorite dates. When I was in high school I got most of my dates from the Great Lakes Naval Training Center - yes INDEED! :D

They were in Philippines, then when we were in all in grade school they transferred to nearby Edwards A.F.B. I would spend summers there and my first kiss was an officers brat at the base plunge/youth center.. Ah the memories.

35. Navy brat, here.
I grew up on Navy bases around the world -- Maine, Scotland, Panama, Guam, Virginia, and Adak, Alaska. I later joined the Navy, but decided not to make a career out of it like my father.

I seem to look "hot" in all pics from my military days but I never, ever saw myself as anything but a plain gal. Although I do remember wondering why so many airmen came over to the CBPO (where I worked) for REALLY stupid things

who would raise their middle fingers with pride at this lie. He's playing the 'war hero' to an extent that makes you not even wonder anymore, hence he gives a damn about the people who served this country, came home and suffer from PTSD until today. There are still about seven PTSD induced suicides a day from the ones returning from Iraq.

He wants to have more of them, and if all they can do is to raise their hands afterward (which is, coming from him, quietly sarcastic in a way), it's just another lame attempt of McCain that'll look good on a picture, but has no meaning at all. Just another quick lie to give him an imagination of a 'possible' future commander in chief. Tomorrow, his dreams of grandeur will come to an end, and the only thing he'll be able to do is to wreck a few model airplanes, playing war. He doesn't even know how a veteran feels like nor does he know what they went through, without the golden spoon between their lips.

CMW,
honorary member of the Smedley D. Butler Brigade Chapter 9 Veterans For Peace

On edit: No, I'm not an U. S. Veteran nor do I pretend to be one. I'm just friends with a few.

15. Not an ex-soldier here, but I was in a certain country in a combat area as a
civilian contractor (hey, that company didn't reject me because of my damaged knees like the Draft Board did, and were willing to pay me $1500 a month to boot, which was a LOT of bux in 1972).

Because of my experience, I do have some certain respect for what McCain went through, and how he handled it.

And I do understand that as you get older, you can't muster up the same level of defiance and courage that you could when you were young and strong.

But: Going from what he did in that prison, to that craven rolling-over like a puppy dog, and THAT HUG he laid on bushyboy? Unacceptable.

NOBODY should be so willing to debase themselves for political gain. Certainly no soldier should.

There's no honor there. None.

Were you the one who posted the link? I knew it was for me the moment I laid eyes on it. I ordered it a week ago Sunday, and it arrived the next Wednesday using normal shipping. I was going to post a link to the shirt but could not find it after searching dozens of pages of Zazzle shirts. What the hell trademark are you violating? Does anyone pay attention to Grateful Dead licensing? I don't think 10% of the Obama gear being sold here in L.A. is licensed through his campaign. That is such bullshit, your shirts rock. Is the design yours?

He has degenerated into pandering old fool who will say anything to try to get a vote. If it WAS really "country first" with him, he'd do the right thing and endorse Obama.

28. POW camps are in secure areas.
In order to liberate a POW camp the surrounding area has to be secured or any rescue mission will be overwhelmed by re-enforcements. Another problem is that if you try to take a POW camp it is likely that the prisoners would be killed long before the guards could be killed or neutralized. I think that most if not all of the prisoners were pilots shot down over the north, so none would be of much use use other then transporting a ground team needed to take a installation.

Edited on Tue Nov-04-08 04:34 PM by FamousMortimer
I voted Democrat while I was in and it pisses me off when people assume being a veteran means you are a Republican. McCain has a terrible voting record on veterans' affairs. Much like Bush. They like to support the troops til they can discard them.

No pics on this computer maybe I will edit one in later.

I was just stationed in Korea not the Korean War. The Gulf War changed me quite a bit. I signed up to fight the Soviets if necessary not muck about in the middle east for oil.
