I'm watching I am Legend...
Edited on Fri Oct-31-08 05:38 PM by jeff30997
And all I can say is: Why I didn't watched that great movie before today ?

I'm currently at 42:38.Still not bored and really interested.

Look at that screenshot I made and tell me who the guy on

the right reminds you of:

I love that kind of movie.Evil virus spreading, zombies (Well so far the mutants don't

behave like zombies but you know what I mean)and lonely survivor.

Really great so far.If you saw it what is your opinion, verdict or review ?

1. I like the novella, but have yet to see any of the movie versions.
I've been spoiled on some changes from the book in this version that I didn't like, so I'm not sure I'm going to watch it.

But the basic premise is a neat inversion of the standard vampire story.

3. Thanks for your opinion cemaphonic.
I didn't know it was based on a novella. But you should give it a shot.So far so good.

Very sober story, not like 28 days later or Planet terror(!).

Very good movie IMHO.

5. Yeah, by Richard Matheson
who if you are not familiar with him was not only a novel/short story writer, but had a very successful TV and screenwriting career (he wrote a bunch of the Twilight Zone and original Star Trek episodes).

The 1960s Charlton Heston film "The Omega Man" is the other well-known adaptation of "I Am Legend," from what I have heard it sounds like this new one is much closer to the story, although not without a few changes of its own.

YES! That's the first thing that popped into my mind when the movie began.

I thought:"Hey it reminds me of that old Charleston Heston movie, what was the tittle ?...Oh yes,

The Omega Man".

Thanks a lot for the infos cemaphonic.I'll try to find that book ASAP.

Edit:The Omega Man Movie was not released in the 60s.But it's a close call:1971 :)

10. "he wrote a bunch of the Twilight Zone "
Now that you mention it I remember reading a book about the Twilight Zone,

Rod Serling and all the very creative peoples that made this show a masterpiece.

Richard Matheson was mentioned numerous times.Argh.I wish I had a

better memory.I should buy some DDR and plug it into my brain.:)

2. I loved the movie.
I also read the book, which is VERY different from this film version.
You want to get this book because its not like anything you've read before.

But check out the extras on your disk, there are animated comics that tell the tale of the virus plague as it spread across the world.

4. Hi Countdown_3_2_1.
Who's the author of the book ?

I'm sure that I would enjoy it very much because I'm

a big reader and of course the book is always better than the movie.

And in that case you're saying that it's very different from this film so

it's another good reason to read it.

7. Richard Matheson
First published in 1954. Its about as different from the movie as you can get...other than names you won't recognize much.
Check the library first, a free read is always better.

The Jurassic Park book is dramatically different from the movie as well.
I lent it to all my buddies and their wives loved it too.

13. "The Jurassic Park book is dramatically different from the movie as well"
Yeah,I read the book before seeing the Spielberg movie and

the story was better in the book than on screen but good old

Steven managed to make a great movie out of Crichton's book.

I've seen the movie about 10 times(yeah,I know) but the

sequels (books or movies) really sucked.

11. The ending sucked because it deviated badly from the source material
But the source material wouldn't play well a modern audience, the studio likely assumed.

How so ? In the novel was it a happy ending or something ? Can you

elaborate please ?

"the source material wouldn't play well a modern audience"

Cool! I love to learn.I'm of course part of the "modern audience" but

I'm very interested in literature in general and what you are saying is

very appealing. Can you tell me more about it ?

12. I pretty much agree. It was ok, but I didn't like it that much.
I wouldn't watch it again. Just my opinion. Others may doubtless love it.

18. I liked it a lot. It's not on my all time list, but I give it high marks.
Can't talk about the ending you haven't seen yet. I didn't hate ending like some did, but I had one complaint about it. Won't mention the complaint yet.

19. it was also made into a movie, The Last Man on Earth
starring Vincent Price.

It is billed as a horror movie, which it kind of is, but mostly it is really sad.
