Should I sell my old Portland punk records?
Rent's due the first and my unemployment and savings ran out in September...I have a bunch of lps by The Wipers, The Rats, Neo-Boys, Sadonation, Smegma, Obituaries, et al...I bought most of them when they first came out and took really good care of them...I was offered a hundred bucks apiece for several of them by one local indie store plus I have a box a 45s a different store owner said was worth about a thousand dollars...However that was a year ago and what with the economy nose-diving I figure I would not be offered anything near these prices now. I am just wondering if I should even bother trying to sell them now, after all I do have a lot of the music on cd or mp3 format. I still have a turntable but I haven't used it in quite awhile and it's a dilemma for me. On one hand, I love still having these records but on the other, nobody except me cares that I have them...I think I know what I'm going to do but I just thought I'd ask for opinions.

1. I've sold things and always regretted it afterwards.
I have tons of music, but just thinking about some of the stuff I've sold is painful.

On the other hand, you can't eat vinyl. :)

2. Only as the absolute last, last resort.
I have about 100 punk LPs from the 80's languishing in the basement. I don't look at them very often, but they are there, part of my history which made me who I am today.

You are wrong on one count. I care that you have them. I know what they mean to you.

I sincerely hope you can find your way out of this dilemma without having to resort to selling them

3. That is such a sad situation.
I'd say don't sell them unless you relally must. But if you do end up selling, I might be interested in those Wipers albums, haha.
