3. Ya know, I reaaaally wish it was that simple.
I'm just going swear off drinking for a good long while. It never ends well for me. I always misjudge my tolerance, I always end up doing something I seriously regret later, and it has nothing to do with Teh Sex. I'm cool with playing around, but blubbering on IM to someone I barely know about how much I love them? Erm. Not so much. That's the kind of thing that makes you really wish that a convenient hole in the floor would open up and swallow you in one dark gulp.

10. Whooooa. Yeah, that would be scary.
I've only been arrested once, and it was a mistake--all charges dropped when they realized it. But still--it creeps me out to know that even though I didn't do anything wrong, the government still has my fingerprints on file. Ick.

5. I hear that the softwear engineers at Google
Have come up with a program that prevents drunken posting. Really. I quit drinking five years ago, but I wish they'd come up with something that kept me from posting when I'm boiling angry: maybe something that won't let you post until your heart rate returns to normal?

If you find you have trouble quitting drinking on your own, you can try our forum: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=336

6. That would be such a lifesaver
the angry post that 24 hours later we wish we hadn't made. I'm sure most of us have done it. The rule is, never post angry, but it is sooooo hard not to.

It probably is possible to write a program which can tell if someone is angry. If Google can tell whether somebody is drunk, they could probably do that too.

BTW, softwear sounds a bit naughty. :)

11. Oops!
My spell-check doesn't work on subject lines. Left to my own devices, I'm not the world's best speller. I understand the "drunk" filter won't let you post/text/IM if you can't pass a simple co-ordination test: they don't have it hooked up to a Breathalyzer.

I think "softwear" consists of those clothes that have been through the wash enough times to be really, really comfy.

9. I sincerely appreciate the link, but
I only drink a few times a year. I am fortunate enough to have not inherited my Dad's alcoholism. My problem is that I have a weird metabolism. Sometimes I can drink a lot, and it hardly does anything to me at all. Sometimes I can drink just a few, and that's enough to make me stupid. Ugh. What I really *need* is to make sure I'm never home alone anymore when I decide to partake, because once you're already toasted, it's hard to think straight enough to keep track of how much you've had. I'm thinking that pre-measuring out a modest amount, and then having ThinkBlue1966 hide the rest of the bottle might be a good idea next time, if she can't actually *be* here. I likely won't drink again until New Year's Eve, so we shall see.

But thank you very much for your post.

13. I wouldn't say 'bad' things.
I mean, those nude pics you posted were fairly tasteful, even if they did get deleted.
