I had to leave work early today - totally stressed out (rant)
My employer has been screwing me for over a year now by paying me a dollar an hour less than my union contract mandates. It's a long story that I'm not going into but the union doesn't seem to be doing much to help me (they don't communicate with me so it's like pulling teeth to find out what's going on), the company won't budge and my resentment just festers with no outlet.

Every single fucking day I go to work where I work my tail off and every single fucking day I can't help but think about how I am being taken advantage of and screwed six ways to Christmas. And since I belong to a union, I can't just get a lawyer and sue them without going through the whole grievance procedure with the union. Who seem to be doing nothing. And believe me, I have been pro-active on this, kept pushing on it, going through the proper channels, documenting everything, etc. That's part of the stress of it - it is always on my mind because I'm always working on it.

It's a clusterfuck and a Catch-22 and the stress is killing me. This week everyone else gets a raise which means I now make about a buck and a half less than they do. I'm out at least $2000 so far which I could really use and this while thing is making me crazy which I can't afford. The company is very obviously hoping I will just give up and go away.

God, I love corporate America!

3. If your union is not helping you, report them to the National Labor Relations Board.
The NLRB is not *just* a method to be used against companies, it can also be used to force a union to represent its members. Your union is obligated to represent you.

10. Hey at least you have a union to complain to
Us white collar types get screwed over with no one to help us..at one of my previous jobs, I was supposed to get paid time and a half for over time. I worked a lot of overtime and when I calculated it --it was only straight hourly. When I complained to HR they "claimed" it was because of taxes which is utter bullshit..The totals BEFORE taxes were taken out were wrong.
I was so happy to get away from the cheap fuckers that I never did get what was owed me...

11. I'm sorry you had to go through that
But it's not much good having someone to complain to when they don't do anything to resolve it. It just sucks all around. :(
