Cat owners - hair help needed.
Edited on Wed Oct-08-08 02:55 PM by Phoonzang
Speaking of pussies... Is there anything you do to your cat to decrease the amount of hair shed? It's driving me up the fucking wall...everywhere I look in my apartment....hair. The chair...hair. The floor..hair. The stove..hair. Everywhere. I clean it up and its back a couple of days later. The other day I was looking in the mirror and saw a long white hair sticking out of my nose. How the hell did cat hair get in my nose??!!

I use one of those Furminator things on her and that takes enough hair off her to make about 6 other cats, but still it doesn't seem to make much difference. Is there some kind of shampoo that reduces shedding? A food supplement (she eats Iams dry food only)? Anything?

3. just give in....
I used Pet Wipes on our old cat, and while it didn't help with the amount of fur, it kept my allergies down.

I used the furminator too - and yes - at least 6 extra cats - but he was a long-haired cat and that is what happens. I felt like if I gave him 20 minutes of furminating every day, it seemed to decrease eventually, but that is A LOT of grooming on a daily basis.

Good luck

4. Maybe salmon oil.
It helps with the coat in general. A friend says it's cutting down on his cat's hairballs a lot.

5. I found my comfort level and tried to get rugs and furniture
that de-emphasized the power of the hair. But I have six masters so your situation may be much less of a problem.

Maybe you should start looking at your cat instead of at the shed hair? It's a better experience!

6. A few suggestions:

I don't know if this stuff works, but Dr. Foster & Smith is a pretty reputable company and I believe they have a money-back guarantee:

Also, the Dyson DC 14 vaccuum is made especially for pet hair and is freaking AMAZING! Yes, very expensive, but one of the best household investments I have ever made. If you want more testimonials just start a thread asking if Dyson vaccuums are any good, lol. This one:

And I see you have already tried the Furminator, that would have been my last suggestion. I also have one and I love it.

Good luck!
