I don't know why I do that to myself. :banghead:

I've also been trying to figure out something to keep myself occupied. I pulled out my cross-stitch and looked through all my kits, but I don't know if I want to do something that involved. Maybe I should flip a coin or roll a die. Hmmm.

I'm also watch A Knight's Tale. There is some fine male yumminess in that movie.

My eyes are blue. :D

26. O yes.
We still got payed for the time off but Ike had us on hurricane standard time.

I lost track of what day it was or the time.

Didn't really matter because you couldn't go any where.

Gas was hard to find, and the nights were really dark.

33. It wasn't so bad.
We did have 5 generators on the block but with gas hard to find we very careful what we used them for.

It was a very relaxed time, nothing really to do but clean up the yards and visit with neighbors.

I had a paid vacation, and I did enjoy the night time.

The weather could have been a little cooler like the temp right now but it still wasn't August type heat.

Two weeks without lights slows you down and takes you back in time.

I enjoyed the slower pace.

44. We still have the mess and debris to be picked up.
At night you couldn't see any of it.

We did have a beautiful full moon for a few days, without the street lights the full moon effect was just great.

I had very busy few months before Ike came and everything just stopped for awhile.

It was really strange, nothing to do and now wheres to go.

I didn't really feel part of the world, our world was our little block.

After two days we knew it would be awhile before we got power so we just decided to make the best of it.

We had ice, water and plenty of food, limited AC and fans.

We didn't even watch much TV after the first week, wasn't interested in it.

It is amazing how we changed in a just a few days without power.

I didn't really miss the internet.

We had good company.

50. It just depends if you have good neighbors.
We did plan for a hurricane since Rita missed us 3 years ago.

Our block was prepared, that was important.

I would suggest that people get to know their neighbors, even a little.

It is always good to have box of supplies just in case something happens.

Our hurricane boxes were ready, all we needed was gas for the generators.

Houston was lucky, the Gulf Coast took the major hit.

We just lost power, Galveston and the little coastal towns lost everything.

We do plan to get a natural gas generator before the next hurricane season, the gas generators are loud and smelly.

We have lost our beaches now, many people lost their homes and lives.

All we had to put up with was a little dark and heat.

We got off lucky.

58. Your are welcome.
Houston is almost back to normal but our poor Gulf Coast will be a long time in coming back.

It like what happened in NO, a way of life is gone.

To rebuilt will cost a lot more, I don't know how many people can afford to now.

We lost our beach house, we lost the beaches.

No more just jumping in the car and driving to Galveston, or the other little coastal towns.

Galveston will be back but not the same.

The little coastal towns are gone.

Just wiped off the map, damn.

and have found comfort food for the ears. I bought an iPod. I succumbed to peer pressure. I'm 40-something and have had this little gadget for 2 days. I went to bed with it on, hubby is at work, vard jr is away at the state fair so I thought I'd crawl into bed with the dog and my music. I have discovered that the Partridge Family and Beethoven comforts my brain, but doesn't let me sleep. So I got back up and now have Tom Petty serenading me. It's like comfort food for the ears.
