Troops to patrol U.S. cities?

Has anybody heard about shrub bringing home 8,000 troops from Iraq to be stationed somewhere in America? Supposedly to be ready at a moment's notice to patrol our city streets (crowd control)? It stinks of Martial Law. I can only find old links and stuff with no dates, so I don't know if this is old crap being brought up again or is this a new "plan" of shrub's so the repugs can "win" the election. Can anybody provide links to info??

except in the case of a special act of Congress or an insurrection. So unless they're planning to make some truly ignorant move that will result in widespread panic and rioting, I'd have to guess this unfounded rumour is just that.

Sounds like preatty easy duty after patroling the streets of Iraq.

I think you are reading too much into this. Sounds to me that these tired troops instead of having some non-deployable designation attached to them are being listed as ready to respond to situations such as New orleans after Katrina when the Army went in to bring relief supplies etc.
