recipe sent to me by email
I just recieved a recipe to make chocolate cake (for one) in minutes in a mug! Sounds pretty cool to me--has anyone ever tried this?
(and does anyone know how to calculate the nutritional value stuff for this--calories etc?)

Ingredients
4 tablespoons plain flour (that's plain flour, not self-rising)
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons baking cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
1/8 teaspoon vanilla

Directions
1 You will also need: 1 coffee mug.

2 Spray inside of mug lightly with cooking spray.

3 Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well . Add the egg and mix thoroughly.

4 Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.

5 Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla, and mix again.

6 Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.

The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired or you can eat it right out of the mug and a scoop of ice cream is a nice way to top this dessert off.

*You can put all the dry ingredients into snack size zip lock bags and tuck them into a mug (along with this recipe) to give it as a gift. Just make sure that the cup is microwave safe and holds 1 1/2 cup.

1. Hmmmm....interesting concept.
I've never tried it, but I do a lot of baking. The one thing that I would probably go ahead and add to this is about a 1/4 tsp. of baking powder. It's going to get some rise from the egg, but it will be lighter if you use the b.p. I'd probably cut the sugar in half too. Then you'll have a darker chocolate cake and can nix some of the calories. But that's just me, I suppose, I cut the sugar in half in damn near everything because otherwise it all just seems sickly sweet to me.

Maybe I'll try this tomorrow night or something. I'm going to bed now. I'm up way too late again, and need to crash.

:) chocolate cake is always good!
