2. Why? Did something happen?
Last I heard he was going to hang upside down.

I like the guy. Didn't at first, but I've started to see what he's trying. He's pushing his body, seeing what it can handle, testing the limits of human endurance. Reminds me of a Kafka short story, "The Hunger Artist."

5. Nah, it's not attention whoring--or no more so than any other form of entertainment
I mean, when it gets down to it, our favorite musical acts are just attention-whoring, too.

But not his best stunt. I suspect that he planned something more dramatic, but when he started doing it, he realized the danger, and backed off. His stunts aren't the explosive Evel Knievel or Houdini stuff, they are tests of endurance. He tries to make them more dramatic than they are, but some of the feats are impressive--just not exciting.

6. The heirarchy of annoying:
Mime > birthday clown > David Blaine > balloon artist > juggler > street magician.

8. Why do so many people hate mimes?
I think they are fun as long as they don't follow you around.

10. I believe it's written upon our DNA.
Judging from your attitude towards mimes, you're probably homozygous negative (mime-/mime-), but I'd wager you'd still kill a mime with a sock full of wood screws, if cornered. ;)

That was so funny because he came on right after Dubya's speech. One death defying feat after another.

14. This reminds me of an old Steven Wright joke:
"There has been no claim that David was going to hang upside down for 60 hours without a break."

Remember Wright's joke about going to a 7/11 and seeing a guy putting a "Closed" sign - so he asked him about it, say "hey, I thought you guys were open 24 hours!!" and the guy says: "Yeah. But not in a row!"
