Anybody have recordings of the "Schickele Mix" radio show?
This was/is (is it even still on?) the radio show done by Peter Schickele, of PDQ Bach fame. I recorded a few shows, but my local station eventually dropped it. I don't suppose anybody out there ever taped any of the shows?

1. No, and I wish I did. My local station doesn't carry it, and PRI doesn't have it, either.
I checked last night, hoping PRI might have it as a podcast. But it doesn't. At least, not that I could find.

2. According to Schickele's website, PRI stopped carrying it last year.
They had trouble getting funding, and actually stopped creating new programs in the late 1990s due to lack of funds. However, PRI kept repeating the shows in order until June of 2007.

3. I had a few, but they're lost...
and we'll never see legal podcasts-- Schickele's website says the copyright problems are insurmountable.

157 shows with maybe a dozen modern clips in each one means tracking down and getting the rights for CDs and podcasts is not impossible, but far too expensive for an operation that can't get funding to keep airing the shows.

Next on the wishlist-- are you old enough to remember Leonard Bernstein's fantastic Young People's Concerts?

Those are available on DVD and they are worth it-- Bernstein wasn't nearly as funny as Schickele, but he damn sure knew how to explain music.
