Anyone own a Kia Sorento?
My wife's 1993 GMC Jimmy finally gave out and died. We are trying to find a reasonably priced SUV to replace it & we need something big enough to carry our dogs (two Goldendoodles) in their carriers. We also need 4WD because we have some brutal winters here. We looked at some 2005 and 2006 4WD Kia Sorentos at some local dealers that were going for about $13K which is within our price range. We would have preferred a RAV4 or a CR-V but we couldn't even find one of those in 4WD for under $20K. If any of you own a Sorento, do you like your vehicle? Is it fairly reliable? I would appreciate any feedback.

1. Have you looked for a Subaru?
They're AWD.

If you're going to go with the Kia, I don't know much about them. They're cheap cars, so you won't have much of a resale if you want to consider that.

Subaru makes AWD vehicles and are good cars. I'd recommend them.

2. Haven't looked at Subaru yet.
I'll see if I can locate any with low miles for under $15K.

We don't really care much about resale b/c we tend to drive vehicles till they fall apart.

3. Kia's are great
and don't they have some wonderful 10 year - 4 billion miles bumper to bumper warranty.

And doesn't that make get pretty good mileage for a SUV?

4. No it's not a bumper to bumper warranty
Here's what they say:

One less bump in the road.

Kia has a lot of confidence in the quality and endurance of all its new vehicles. So much confidence, in fact, we offer the industry-leading Kia 10-year/100,000-mile warranty program. The Kia 10-year/100,000-mile warranty program consists of various components including a 10-year or 100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty, a five-year or 60,000 mile limited basic warranty, a five-year or 100,000 mile limited anti-perforation warranty, and a five-year/60,000-mile roadside assistance plan, each of which provides coverage until either the yearly or total mileage figure is reached, whichever occurs first.

Peace of Mind

The extended protection of Kia 10-year/100,000-mile warranty program gives Kia owners an added safeguard against unforeseen service and repairs. You'll have many extra miles of worry-free driving down the road.

Shield Against Unexpected Repair Bills

Kia 10-year/100,000-mile warranty program covers repairs made to precise Kia standards and requirements. You can rest easy knowing your vehicle is in the skilled hands of Kia trained service technicians at your authorized Kia Dealer.

All warranties are limited. For complete details, see a dealer or download complete details of Kia 10-year/100,000-mile warranty program in PDF format.
