just applied for a shelter cat!
Edited on Wed Sep-10-08 08:44 PM by charlie and algernon
Went to the Washington Animal Rescue League and applied for a lovely cat.
Her name is Esther, she's a big girl and very sweet. She's on a diet plan, is losing weight, and gaining energy and has fun chasing things on a stick and laser pointers. They should let me know by Friday if I get her and I should bring her home next week.

EDIT: picture link isn't working

3. How adorable!
Thank you for adopting a shelter cat. We'll hopefully be bringing home one on Saturday.

4. Wouldn't get a cat any other way
Edited on Wed Sep-10-08 09:10 PM by charlie and algernon
I noticed as other people came in to look at cats, they all ignored Esther, who is pretty fat, for the cute little kittens. But you play with her and she's just as playful as the young skinny ones. She's been there awhile and would probably be there for a long time more. I still need to get all supplies, but hope to bring her home early next week.

It's great to see your getting another one after your tragedy with the kitten.

5. Thank you
We're still agonizing about the kitten's death, and haggering about what age of cat to hopefully get. The kitten that died was from the same family. :(

6. I couldn't imagine the pain you must feel
The death of a kitten is no less powerful than the death of a human kid.

Best of Luck with everything

7. I am so happy for you and Esther
I adopted an adult cat and never regretted it. He's a great little boy.

11. Same here.
I adopted my Madimi in March from a shelter. She'd been there for *four months*, which is a long time at that shelter. She was about 2 and a half years old, and yeah, I kind of see why she was difficult to adopt out because she's scratchy and bitey when she plays. Big kitten with attitude, her. Feisty tortie.

But I can take it. I have tattoos, so my pain tolerance is up there, and I heal pretty good. :)

9. Awwww...yay!
Bless you for taking the lovely Rubenesque lady. I'm sure with space to run around and lots of playtime and a good diet she'll get down to a healthy weight.

10. That's great! Two of my pets are rescues from the shelter, and
my first one camped out on my doorstep and wouldn't go away. She adopted ME! She's the most docile and lovey dovey sweetheart of all my pets.

:)
