My poem, "Moon Drop..."

The moon is coming down from full
She‘s hanging low in the night sky
A turgid heavy drop

I swear
If I reached up
And squeezed her
She’d flood me
With her bright liquid light

She’s becoming
The tiny crescent that I love
With sharp points
You could hang your heart on

But right now
She’s an oblong pearl
Dangling from Orion’s throat

I want to reach up and take her
And keep her
And wear her

Forever

Loved the final stanza. Whenever I write a good one I think "my muse is with me" and it looks like your muse was present too.

I was actually driving home from the open mic at the weekly poetry readings that I go to, when I spotted the moon just rising.

It surprised me so much that the opening line just showed up in my head.

I was nearly home, but I got a chance to write down a couple of words in the car so I wouldn't forget them!

My muse was definitely working her magic that night...

What I settled on is a pad of paper...with a pencil!

I have them by the bed, in the car, by the phone, by my computer...

You get the picture!

They work very well and don't need batteries or whatever to work!

Orion is one of my faves in the sky down here. I see him every early morning when I run.

And I've always loved the moon. It is so big in the Keys, rising over the ocean when it is full...and the reflection in the water looks like a path you could just step onto, start trekking, and end up in the Sea of Tranquillity (sp?).

Won't be seeing it for a couple nights now, so I'll just come and reread your poem.
