Now THIS is dancing!
Edited on Fri Sep-05-08 09:35 PM by kdsusa
I bought Stormy Weather on tape years ago, and I've nearly worn it out. This is perhaps the best dance scene in all movie history...

And if you really want to smile, watch it with commentary from Fayard Nicholas...

1. OMG--Thank you!
I saw part of that scene years ago on tv, but I missed the beginning and never found out where it was from.

That part where they leap down the steps, one over the other, is positively outstanding.

Great camera work in the scene, too. It really captures their performance remarkably well.

2. Here's another scene
This scene takes place shortly after World War I. The one I posted earlier was from the end of the movie, during WWII. This one reflects an earlier style, from the same movie, though.
Stormy Weather was a great showplace of the talent of the time!

3. It's cliche to say that they make it look effortless, but they really do!
I'd swear that they're full of helium or something, because their feet never quite seem to touch the ground for more than an instant at a time.

What phenomenal artists, performers, and athletes. Thanks for the second clip!
