Anyone else here buy their ground beef this way?
Ok, bit of a backstory:
I have a "uber-trendoid yuppie" relative, who likes to give me a hard time over the "pedestrian" (her word) choices I have to make.
Clothes, my apartment, etc.

So I buy my ground beef in tubes, like this:

First off, my relative rags on me over eating ground beef.
Second, she rags on me over buying it from a discount grocery store here in Sheboygan.
(Sav-A-Lot)

Finally, exasperated, I told her, "The thing you and Karma have in common? You're both a real bitch. Now get the fuck out."
She leaves in a huff, driving off in her Lexus.

I'd like to do like my parents do, and buy a half a cow.
(Processed, of course.)

But I don't have a big freezer like my parents do.

1. I don't, because I buy the extra lean, but I certainly don't see
anything wrong with it.

More fat in the burger makes better grilled hamburs, anyway.

Oh, I didn't know you were from Sheboygan. Do you know Asher?

3. All things equal, I'd avoid the tubes if I could.
It is nice to see the meat before buying it. But I'm not willing to spend a whole lot for that privilege.

2. I buy ground turkey in 1 lb tubes like that.
Usually I can get it cheaper than beef.

6. Oh, I forgot about that. I buy ground turkey breast in the tube.
It is WAY cheaper. And, in something like tacos that is spicy, the kids can't tell the difference.

that frightens me.

I buy my ground beef at the no hormone store.

actually i could just buy the kind of cubed beef i want and grind my own as necessary.

but i think the beef in tubes might be tumor beef.
