1. Check to see if any keys are stuck.
I was having trouble yesterday in that when I clicked on the "Start" button, it would only pop up for a nanosecond.

I was getting frustrated, then noticed that my "alt" key was stuck. Soon as I unstuck it, the computer worked fine.

4. Thanks..that seems to have done the trick
Edited on Tue Sep-02-08 02:24 AM by SoCalDem
That was the weirdest thing.. The little "find" box popped up on the lower left..in RED with nothing but a traveling dash.. I figured I hit a combination of keys accidentally, so I clicked the x (to close the box) and my computer started a ding sound with every dash..and everywhere the cursor went, the dashes did too..

I did a restore, and a diagnostic, shut down you name it.. I even unplugged the power pack..

but this seems to have fixed it.. thanks again
:grr:

5. When I put your computer's symptoms in the diagnostic search
Edited on Tue Sep-02-08 09:35 AM by marzipanni
that paragraph rang a bell, because our son helped us "fix" our computer by pressing the NUM lock key!
;)
