On Being Mayor of Wasilla, AK. . .
Laura Bush has stated that Sarah Palin's term of being mayor of such a small town does provide a lot of qualifying experience for being Vice-President of the U.S.:

Wasilla back then had a population of 5400. After having watched "The Gilmore Girls" <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_qJSwNS8Y4> and having seen Taylor Doose act as selectman (New England's equivalent of Mayor?) for the fictional town of Stars Hollow, CT (population 9,973), I begin to wonder about such experience. The biggest issues such mayors face seem to be whether to install new traffic lights or enforce plant foliage regulations.

I believe such experience would be considered laughable in a sane world.
