Who was the mystery DUer on I-75 south of Atlanta Wednesday afternoon?
I saw a DemocraticUnderground bumpersticker on the back of a Jeep Cherokee tooling down I-75 near the Jackson/Griffin exit at about 6:15 pm on Wednesday. I pulled along side and held my DemocraticUnderground cap up to the window. She looked startled at first, then laughed and gave me a wave.

Anyway, I just pulled into Dallas after a 812 mile drive today. I am beat.

4. I'm not going to tell where she got off I-75. Privacy issues, perhaps.
Edited on Fri Aug-08-03 10:44 PM by DemoTex
But I will say that she was a very attractive young African-American woman. And I had to do 88-mph to catch up with her. We both got off at the same exit and I pulled over with a cell phone call. She passed me and honked and waved. I was hoping she would stop, but I certainly don't blame her for not stopping. Too bad. If she sees this post, I think she lives in or near the same town as my parents. Hint: It's half as big as a NY cemetary, and twice as dead.

isn't that Catwoman? Right coordinates...

on edit: when I say "right coordinates" I mean "the Atlanta area" and not any specific spot. I am not stalking Catwoman. Thank you, please continue.

6. Could I have been that close to Catwoman? THE Catwoman?
Catwoman meets DemoTex! DemoTex meets Catwoman! Damn! Maybe I should trade in my ham radio license plate for a "DemoTex" plate. If that was you Cat, that was me in the white Subaru wagon with Texas ham radio plates.

9. Well, I just sent her a PM.
It has got to be a fairly major DU player to have the bumper-sticker on the back window. She probably thought I was an insane Freeper when I pulled up next to her holding a baseball cap over at the passenger-side window so that she could see it.

20. Well, the Atenolol keeps the B/P down.
Way down. It just makes me too drowsy to land an MD-80. Know what I mean, Vern?

25. Actually, they can.
The MD-80, IMHO, has a much better auto-land system than the Boeing 737. The big difference is, after touchdown, the MD-80 system continues to track the runway centerline until the auto-pilot is disengaged (if I remember correctly).

I found too, that the MD-80 auto-pilot system could control the speed on final approach much better than the B-737/300. The MD-80 auto-throttle is much more sensitive.

Otherwise, I am a Boeing guy. I love the B-737-series. I've got at least 8000 hours in Boeing 737s.

27. I thought I had read that somewhere
seems like there should be a way to end the track of the runway, to avoid running off the end... you know a sort of "if you ain't on the ground by now, fugggedabouit anyway" kind of thing.

28. No, that's still up to the captain.
The runway markings and lights give the pilot the info he/she needs regarding runway length. Believe me.
