So I got my dog shaved and I am embarrassed for him!

He used to have such pretty hair. I did it because he won't let us brush him and he has gotten so matted up. Big mistake.

9. I hope you mean a very short cut rather than actual shaving.

If you do mean shaving, please be very, very careful about sunburn. Dogs' coats serve a very important protective function in both cold weather and sun, and goldens are a breed that can experience sunburn or hyperthermia very easily.

10. I am very careful of his skin. He has very sensitive

skin anyway. He did get a shave though. It was the only way to get all of the knots out of his hair. He is impossible to brush. He lays down and prevents any brushing. And 110 lbs. of doggie dead weight is hard to manouver around. There is no chance for hypothermia around my parts. He will be fine. Thanks for the concern. And please don't laugh too hard when I do post his pic.

20. i got both my girls shaved last Thursday. they look stupid but they are

MUCH more comfortable in our desert climate.

one looks like a refugee instead of an aussie shepard

the other one (the sheltie) looks even dumber.

I tell them how pretty and good they look (yes I lie to my dogs to spare their feelings), and they definately look like they feel better without all that heavy coat
