1. Cow boy. Cowboy. Maybe?
I dunno. There's a tractorpull dragster next to it.

It made me young for a moment.

9. 4-h was my thing.
Edited on Tue Aug-12-08 11:41 PM by Ptah
In February, Montana, I bought 100 day-old chicks.
Medicated, fed and cleaned up for them.

July we butchered all but three of the roosters.

Took the roosters and three hens to the fair in Shelby.
Got Blue Ribbons for my chickens and photography.

I could go on, but I won't

:hi:

11. Chickens are cool!
My son helps take care of a neighbor's chickens and sheep, and works in the garden/yard, and in return he is paid with eggs, veggies, and has "fishin' permission" for their pond. What's not to like?

4-H prepares kids for all sorts of real life stuff. Certainly more than sittin' around playin' Grand Theft Auto video games... LOL!

is my other half when he was a kid with one of his dairy calves. Long line of 4-H'ers. His sister and her family still run their own dairy. I milk cows for fun and relaxation.

Edited for spelling.

The kids that are in our 4-H group still do stuff like this for fun. Can't beat it!

13. You just got a big compliment
From my boy. He loved this AC photo! He wants to know if you got to drive it? He's 13 and has been workin' in the straw fields baling for the last month. If it has an engine and can be driven in a field, he's usually in the seat.

17. It was a three cylinder crawler.
I didn't operate that tractor, but I did spend endless hour on a couple of Minneapolis
Moline tractors.

It was fun for the first few hours.

Harvest was the best time

18. My favorite it combining corn
I always ride when we do corn. Chopping is okay, but I prefer the combines. Got photos of that too, but I don't know how to post a photo in my message box here.

8. Thanks
I've been around for a couple years, but I'm kinda quiet. Learned how to be a better democrat from reading a lot here... LOL! Kinda hangin' around the lounge a little bit lately and getting my feet wet, tryin' to fit in.

Son does 4-H dairy club and livestock club. He also won a scholarship to 4-H forestry camp, which is pretty cool since only 60 or so kids are hand-picked from our state each year. Kind of a big deal for him. Hubby tractor pulls. Just regular ol' redneck dems. If there IS such a thing!

19. I came in from chores (and working a few calves) and saw that
picture at the end of the line and got ALL excited. I'm calmer now.

I didn't do 4H, and my kids weren't too heavy into it although the oldest did a year (pleasure horse)and the youngest was in FFA all through highschool, mostly for welding.

There used to be a lot of dems out in the country and I think there is a chance to get some of them back - I guess that is one thing we could actually be grateful to the idiot son for!
