I need a hug... a furry friend is gone. I'm heartbroken.
I know, I know.
It's not all that important given all that's going on, but I'm so sad.
My sister had to put her dog down tonight and I am seriously bumming.
Make a negative comment and I'll rip your lungs out.
But, this is DU and I've been on here for years and I've cried at other people's losses.
Now, it's my turn.
I know you'll understand.

Meet Emma-bear.

This dog had a soul.
I held her when she was no bigger than a softball thirteen years ago.
My sister lives on top of a mountain in N.E. Pennsylvania, so she had a perfect life for a golden.
Lot's of room to run and chase shit.
As she grew, my sister grew too.
Her and her husband (who I love like my own brother) and the two boys provided a great life for this dog.
And this dog paid them back BIG time.
But, this is about me.
I don't have a furry friend and this dog KNEW that.

When I would visit, sometimes every few months, other times every few years, this dog knew I was coming days before.
By the time I pulled up in the driveway, she was going NUTS.
It was like she knew her job was to make me happy.
From the moment I climbed out of the car until the moment I left, she stayed by my side.
She slept with me, followed me everywhere, tail wagging and leaning into me, never wanting to be out of my sight.
I would miss her for weeks when I left.
I'll miss her for a lifetime now.

Dogs are a perfect friend.
All they ask is that you let them love you, and they will.
When your sick, when your down, when your happy, they love you anyway.
When I read about someone abusing an animal I want to stomp their guts out, because I sure could use a furry friend.
But, I can't bear leaving them alone for 10 or 11 hours a day.

And now one of my furry friends is gone and I'm seriously bumming.
If you have a furry fuzz face give them a hug for me.
I GET IT.

I'm heartbroken.

3. I'm so sorry for you
love from a beautiful friend like Emma can't be found with another human. It can only be found with a creature capable of unconditional love. You were lucky to have such a love, but you already know that...

4. Emma-bear was a beautiful dog.
And from your story, she DID have a beautiful soul.

I'm sorry for your loss. Even though she wasn't yours, that doesn't matter, because you had each other's hearts.

6. What a beautiful girl.
I'm so so sorry.

You'll never hear a negative comment from me about this. I've known many dead humans I don't mourn a bit, and plenty of animals whose lives I'd trade for theirs in a millisecond, because of all of their all-too-short years on earth, they brought no pain or grief or insult to anyone, only love.

I'm glad she got a great life in the mountains with a lot of room to play. I'm glad she and you were there for each other and enjoyed each others' company so much.

If you're in a position where you can't have a furry friend right now, I hope someday soon you'll be in a place where you can. There's another fuzzy soul-friend for you out there somewhere.

18. Oh she is beautiful.
And I understand - for sure.

I never had a dog as a kid, and my love for dogs was born with a german short-haired pointer named Delaney that was my aunt's dog. I loved that dog more than anything.

29. I took my girl Sophie
for a midnight walk and cried my eyes out after I read this last night.

I lost my beloved Golden Pyr Molly last year to lymphoma, she was just 7 yrs old. She was perfect for me, a once in a life time pet. I will never love a dog like I loved that dog. I will always and forever miss her.

But meeting Molly has given me an appreciation for dogs that I never would have had if I hadn't met her.

They are wonderful incredible animals and your relationship with Emma was profound - be grateful; Most people never know love like that; you were one of the lucky ones that did.

My love to you. it hurts and there is nothing you can do but feel it right now.

30. I am so sorry for your loss of Emma-bear. Hugs to you.

We had to take our beloved Tanya to the vet in late June to be peacefully put to sleep. We'd gotten
her 13 years ago at the animal shelter and figured she was at least 14. I work from home. Tanya
was my constant companion. She used to follow me all over the house until about a year ago when
her arthritis was so bad she started waiting before following me up or downstairs to see if I was coming back shortly.

I miss her so much. Our cats miss her, too. They have noticeably changed their behavior to be with each other more and curl up on the spots where Tanya used to hang out the most.

I am so very sorry you have lost your furry friend. Hugs to your sister and her family, too.
