Just returned from my first ever NASCAR race. Ask me anything.
Just returned from Pocono International Raceway. I attended my first ever live NASCAR race, the Pennsylvania 600. My husband, four friends and myself rented a van to go to the race. I'll have to admit I was a little lost with what was going on during the race. The special guest was Cindy McCsin. She received a cool reception from the crowd. Not sure what Michelle Obama's reception would have been by the crowd.

During the introductions of the drivers, there was quite a bit of booing for Kurt Busch and Juan Pablo Montoya. Most of the booing was saved for Jeff Gordon. That was not a surprise.

1. They're still bent about Juan Pablo?
Grudge holding xenophobes! He was kickin' ass when he got to NASCAR. I guess they wanted him to act like a rookie, even though he was already a Formula One champ.

I'm surprised about Cindy's cool reception. Most NASCAR fans love chicks with big bleached blonde hair. Maybe it's her skinny thighs.

2. I'm a NASCAR fan.
I live 30 miles from Pocono Raceway but I've never gone to a race there. We go to qualifying because it's not as crazy as race day.

I'm not surprised that Cindy got a cool reception. There's a common misconception that all NASCAR fans are right-wingers but most of the fans I know are not.

My question for you is this. Now that you've gone to your fist race did you like it well enough to go again?

4. Next time you go, if you do, rent a set of headphones.
I've been to 3 NASCAR races at Las Vegas. The first time I went, we didn't get the headphones, and while it was very cool to be at the race, it was a little weird not to know everything that was going on. So the last two times we went, we got the headphones, and it was great! Plus, they help cushion the ears a bit from the sound of the cars, which, while I like it, does get pretty loud sometimes.

6. I never call my sisters when the race is on.
Because they won't answer the phone!

I love NASCAR racing; grew up with racing, as both my parents raced, but I'm not quite as crazy about it as my sissies!

8. My dad watches NASCAR on tv. I've only watched car racing on The Simpsons.
Did anyone get hit by a flying t-shirt and fly off the top of the stands a la Maude Flanders?

*** Sorry, random Simpsons reference. I am a Simpsons Addict ***

12. I assume from the grandstands?
I never experienced one from there, but have been to hella in the infield. I'm sure it has all changed, but it involved LOTS of beer and a recurring requests to "let the puppies breathe." :D

Did you like it?

:hi:
