Things I have learned in the past 2 days
1. I am a far better pool player than I previously realized

2. Whitewater rafting ROCKS

3. I need a lot more peace and quiet than I previously realized and know that I feel ready to go crazy with a machete in my hand if I'm around too many noisy people for too long

4. I no longer give two poops about women with kids who spend all their time discussing recipes and their children and look at me
like my life is desperately deficient because I lack both kids and superior Pakistani cooking skills

3. Having been married to a Pakistani for 13 years Thursday,
I am expected to a) have at least 3 kids and b) know how to cook everything from aloo to qeema. I have failed miserably on the first and mostly on the second. SO SUE ME.

6. Hey, happy anniversary! Cooking begone, that's a goodly number of years
to be in a relationship, so you're doing something right. Congrats!

4. The anger came out when we got to the Atlanta airport
I DETEST that airport - too complicated and busy. I felt very aggressive and wanted to kick old ladies in wheelchairs.

The rafting was SO much fun. Our friend who wears a burka fell off the raft and floated downstream - she felt miserable until we were able to get back to the cabin and she could have a shower and get into fresh clothes. It was scary, but she kept her head and followed the guide's instructions until another raft retrieved her. I think my husband thought I was scared, but the experience was invigorating! I can't wait to do it again!

We were on the Little Pigeon River in the Smokies, BTW.

5. I've spent many hours in the Atlanta airport
I'll never forget how sickening it was to come back to the mainland from Molokai, in the morning, and see hundreds of people clutching their Starbucks coffee cups and running around like rats in a rat race. I think I might have to take some time to re-enter society slowly - next time - and stay on Oahu a couple of more days first!

Just remember-- as hectic and crazy as air travel can be, it sure beats a long and boring drive!

7. You "lack" kids?
Is there some sort of subliminal meaning in the use of that particular word?

As for Pakistani cooking skills, only about 5 people have those.
