Hello all....

I am requesting some serious lounge vibes for this Friday.

At 1pm my dad goes in for heart surgery. We found out last week that his right coronary artery AND the its bypass (done in 1995) are seriously blocked. The surgeon is planning to repair the main coronary artery first; if that fails, he will move to the bypass. If that fails, that's it. My dad has already had a quadruple bypass in 19965 and has no wish to repeat it. He does have a living will in place, so that if something does happen...our options are very well delineated.....I'm really hoping that the surgeon can get the main artery to cooperate.

Secondly, while all of this is going on, I will be sitting for my NCLEX (licensure exam for nursing). Looked at moving the date/time, but all appointments are filled until September. I've been waiting since May to take it.....I can't wait anymore.

I am very nervous about my exam and very concerned about my father. I have always been a daddy's girl and this is......extremely difficult for me.

Any and all positive thoughts, vibes, energy, prayers are appreciated. I will let you know how things turn out....

24. UPDATE!!!!

Apologies for taking so long to get back and post something. This weekend was crazy!!!

First of all, My dad MADE it through surgery. There were some complications though. Doc was working on the right coronary artery when, due to increased pressure on the plaque, it perforated. He was able to keep the bleeding under control and did not have to do anything really invasive to stop the bleeding. However, b/c of it, the doctor was unable to place any stents or "clean" the artery. there is a slight increase in the amount of blood able to reach the heart through the artery now, but we still have a ways to go before the doctor is completely satisfied. We go back in 6 weeks and try again. Hopefully, things will go better the next time.

Secondly, I survived my NCLEX exam. 4 hours and 160 questions later it shut off. It was the most hideous test I have ever faced and I hope I NEVER have to face it again. No results till Wednesday, probably, but I will post as soon as I know...One way or the other.


I had just gotten home and had finished putting my kiddo to bed when my best friend called me and said that she was in labor - contractions 3 mins apart and "very hard and painful." I met her and her designated driver in a parking lot and picked up her oldest boy to have a sleep over with my kiddo. I got the 2 boys home, changed and met her and the rest of the crew at the hospital. This was 1 am.

Hadden McHale was born @ 6am CST and is doing GREAT!!! I wouldn't have traded the experience for the world and it DEFINITELY took my mind off my exam. LOL.

All in all it was a very busy day and I am still recuperating. Thanks to all who sent vibes, energy, prayers, etc....I really appreciate it.

Keep my family in your thoughts over the next few weeks. I will post when we know for sure when dad goes in again.
