Which online comic strip should I read (and why)?
There are over seven thousand listed http://www.onlinecomics.net/pages/comics.php">here. I can't exactly review them all. My tastes run towards sarcasm/satire/black humor.

Comics I loathe:
B.C.
Family Circus
For Better or Worse
Cathy
Garfield
Wizard of Id
Ziggy

Comics I have enjoyed:
Bloom County
Dilbert
Far Side
Calvin and Hobbes

Comics I currently enjoy:
Cyanide and Happiness
Foxtrot
Opus
Red Meat
xkcd

1. "Out There" by R.C. Monroe.
Perhaps it's not as dark or cynical as you'd like, but the characters are likable, there's a punchline in every comic, and it's updated like clockwork six days a week.

If you go back in the archives to the first strip, you could probably kill three or four hours just catching up!

2. The Warehouse is funny sometimes.

It even pokes fun at other itself by pointing out the occasional similarities and differences between it and other simple-drawing comics like xkcd and Cyanide and Happiness.

8. "Bone" by Jeff Smith
there's some political overtones to his work, which is sort of "Bugs bunny meets Lord of the Rings". He is a lefty liberal like most of us here. His favorite comic as a kid was "Pogo", and if you haven't read that one I'm sure you'd enjoy it!

...cause it makes absolutely no sense.

Reading it from the beginning just makes matters worse.
