MTV is developing a remake of 1975 cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show, reports Variety.

Lou Adler, executive producer of the original film, is partnering with BermanBraun and Fox Television Studios on the new rendition.

The new version will use the original screenplay by Jim Sharman and Richard O'Brien but may also include music not featured in the original.

The director and casting decisions have yet to be announced. The original starred Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick and Meatloaf.

I mean, every time VH1 shows Rocky Horror they butcher it so badly that you almost can't recognize it... now MTV is trying to do the same. But their way.

39. Yeah, can't top seeing it in a theatre in SF on Market Street
Stoned and with two gay friends in 1978 before the audience participation went over the top. There was participation, even that early along.

A remake? Why don't they wait a century or so until it can be done in holograms or something new?

58. It won't
Remakes have no effect on the quality or the legacy of the original film.

But fans being silly and dramatic on an internet forum won't likely cause much harm either.

If it's good it'll suck because it's supposed to be bad.

And if it's bad it'll suck because it won't be bad in all the right ways. You can't make something bad like that intentionally.

Either way, it's going to suck! x(

Why :banghead: do they have to :banghead: violate :banghead: my memories :banghead:

I can still watch Rocky Horror and have a blast all by myself, I refuse to watch an attempt to capitalize on a great memory. Why can't people use some fresh NEW ideas? Maybe they just don't want to think hard enough :banghead:

48. totally
I just called my best friend to tell him about this. He said the deal with these shitty remakes for great movies lately is that the people they're made for don't remember the real thing anyway.. they didn't go through the first wave so for them it's something new. SOMETHING NEW THAT SUCKS I say. The youngsters might get into it but I feel violated.
