The two greatest Hip Hop tracks/videos of all time
The only question is, which one is Number 1???

Representing 1988 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qP2Jk7kFas

Representing 1998 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQfVte5nfg0

Classics. Masterpieces. They both render me speechless and in awe of their creators. But which one do you think rules the roost??

2. aww snap!
A true classic, although I must admit I don't know the words to the "clean" version.

I think my two choices are without fault, though.

5. The Message
is a genuine classic. You're right and it's a worthy contender.

Apache is a party jam. THE jam, to be sure, but a party jam. I'll never forget that crazy dance that Will and Carlton do to that song on "Fresh Prince of Bel Air."

Comedy!

10. Good stuff
LOVE that. But I don't think it's well-known enough to be one of the greatest.

15. Love that track
Shadrach and "Paul's Boutique" itself is pure fabulousness. I was the only black chick in college playing Paul's Boutique back in the day.

But are you HONESTLY trying to compare the Beastie Boys to Public Enemy and Wu-Tang Clan??! Even the Beasties would laugh at you! :)

And I ain't your brother. I'm a chick, man.

17. But the Shadrach video
With each frame a separate hand done painting of the video taken of the performance is FAR better than any PE video I've seen.

I also think Paul's Boutique is a better album overall than any album either PE or Wu-T released, and I say that as a big PE fan.

And those are the LYRICS, sis, damn!

19. All right, already!
Okay, I'll give you that the Shadrach video is gorgeous. But I'm sorry I still think the drama and masterpiece of Triumph just beats it half to death and leaves it whimpering. RZA with black wings on??! GZA and Masta Killa looking contemptuously down on planet earth as if seriously contemplating blowing the damn thing up??! GTF outta here!!!

And the scene in Night of the Living Baseheads where MC Lyte is looking for baseheads and goes straight to Wall Street is simply - CLASSIC. Beeper tie???? CLASSIC!

And I KNOW it's the lyrics man, damn! But I'm still a chick!! lol :hi:

22. A classic, no doubt
I love that song. It actually makes me a little homesick and sad.

But one of the greatest and in the same league with PE and Wu-Tang?? I don't see it.
