1. Aren't you concerned
that such a thing could disrupt the space-time continuum, much like reading the South Beach Diet in South Beach?

10. As long as she's fluent in the language, I'm sure she will get it.
Edited on Wed Jul-23-08 01:11 PM by Rhiannon12866
The spelling is not the same, but the joke is that Bush* isn't fluent enough to understand that... :eyes:

My personal favorite is the one about God's clocks. You might try sending that one. If you don't have it, I do... ;)

Rhi :hi:

On edit, here's the joke... :D

Clocks in Heaven

A man died and went to heaven. As he stood in front of St. Peter at the Pearly Gates, he saw a huge wall of clocks behind him.

He asked, "What are all those clocks?" St. Peter answered, "Those are Lie-Clocks. Everyone on Earth has a Lie-Clock. Every time you lie the hands on your clock will move."

"Oh," said the man, "whose clock is that?"

"That's Mother Teresa's. The hands have never moved, indicating that she never told a lie."

"Incredible," said the man. "And whose clock is that one?"

St. Peter responded, "That's Abraham Lincoln's clock. The hands have moved twice, telling us that Abe told only two lies in his entire life."

"Where's President Bush's clock?" asked the man.

"Bush's clock is in Jesus' office. He's using it as a ceiling fan."

13. You've got to be kidding, LOL. But I'm sure you're not...
I only heard it since Bush* has been in office. Nobody I know would dare joke about Bill Clinton, since he's one of my heroes... ;)

:hi:

On edit: You know, I'm constantly impressed with people from other countries who are completely fluent in English. We arrogant Americans expect everyone to be...

When I was in Russia, I was seated next to a very nice Russian girl at the opera in St. Petersburg. We had conversations during the intermissions, but she kept apologizing to me because she "never finished" her English. She was fluent in Russian, obviously, and also Italian and French. But she "never finished" studying English! Yikes! I managed to dredge up enough of my high school French enough to talk to her... :-)

24. Wow. And it's like I said.
When my friend taught third grade, I used to visit his class when they studied Russia, bring in a whole lot of Russian things, which they loved, and tell them my impressions of what it's like there. And that was one thing that I emphasized, that all the young people in Russia speak fluent English, visited an English class there and the children in the class weren't much older than the third graders... And I'd ask the kids how many of us know any other languages.

But your friend sounds very intelligent. :-)

16. Send her this one, then:
While planning an elaborate reception for Nicolas Sarkozy, First Lady Laura Bush stubbornly fought to keep the details from her socially inept husband, fearful that he might create a diplomatic blunder in front of the visiting President of France.

When he learned of this, Bush was furious. He was particularly angry to have been excluded from the planning of the gala ball to be held in honor of Sarkozy's arrival.

"George," scolded the First Lady. "Don't be silly. You don't even know what a cotillion is."

"Sure I do," fumed the Executive. "It's a thousand Brazilians."
