Question for Madisonian DUers...
Is there anyplace on State Street where there are picnic tables where one could sit down with a box lunch and eat? I need the info for the script that I'm writing.

It's hard to write a script about a place that you haven't been to sice you were very little.

of is toward the western part of state street, there`s an open spot where people hang out. it`s about the only place to eat -other than the benches on the side walks on state street. i take it you`ll be there in the spring. if you buy some drinks you probably sit in one of the bars outdoor eating areas..tell you`re writing a script....

2. Actually....
I'm planning on setting the script in early fall.

West, that would be up by the Univerisity, right? I'm bad with cardinal directions.

If I get some money, I might go to Madison during Spring Break in a month to do some research, but that's a damn big "if". It's hard to get money when you're not working.

3. There are benches all over State St.
Can't think of any picnic tables, though.

4. that might make things difficult...
I was planning on writing a scene where one guy tries sushi for the first time, and his friend urges him to spread wasabi all over the sushi like peanut butter just to get a great physical reaction. doing this without a table would be difficult.

5. It's been a few years since I lived there
But IIRC, there are (were) tables in the mall area between Memorial Library & the state Historical Society.

There was also a small open area about half way down the street called Peace Park (?) that may still have places to sit.

7. Sorry 'bout the bad link
Try this one:

http://uwbadgers.com/maps/

Start at the right edge of the picture where the water meets the land. Move the cursor in about 1" and click. The area I mentioned has coordinates M13.

Hope this one works.
: )
