What's worse than a snotty, demanding, know-it-all diva?
Edited on Thu Jun-26-08 03:40 PM by grace0418
A snotty, demanding, know-it-all diva who actually knows next to nothing.

If there's one thing I loathe it's being treated like an idiot. Being treated like an idiot *by an idiot* is just ten times worse. Especially when that idiot has been promoted twice for no apparent reason.

2. Items needed:
Edited on Thu Jun-26-08 03:56 PM by Symarip
* One Fresh Fish (any species will do)

* A plastic bag

* Access to the victim's car

Step 1: Place fresh fish in plastic bag. You may choose to tape shut the bag.

Step 2: Find victims car. Place plastic bag o' fish in the hiddin area of tire well, or, if accessible, somewhere inside the bumper. If possible, a little tape might be used to secure the bag to the car chassis.

Step 3: Wait 1 week to 3 weeks for her to start complaining at work about annoying smell her AC is making. Be sure to snicker quietly to yourself.

She'll undoubtedly have to take it in for service. 1 of 2 things will happen:

A. Her local grease monkey finds nothing wrong with the car and sends her on her way after charging her for the inspection. The problem will only get worse as each day passes.

B. The greasemonkey finds the bag o' fish and charges her for the inspection.

Basically, these are two win-win situations. If her attitude persists, repeat Steps 1-3.

6. Oh, that's evil.
I would get caught. And she wouldn't learn a thing. That's just the way it is, she skates by and never has to pay a price for her ways.

7. Ah, I used to work with one of those
This person would frequently argue that things were completely the opposite of the way they really were, then casually dismiss naysayers with, 'You don't know what you're talking about, so just shut the fuck up.' I so do not miss her. Her negativity was a protective cloak about her, and her mission in life was to make sure that everyone was miserable within as short a peroid of time as possible after she entered a room.

8. I'd say you probably worked for this person except that she's never had
another job before. Yes, she worked freelance (and not much of it) before she started here, and managed to use her age and "experience" to bully her way into two promotions she soooooooooo did not deserve. My cat has better managerial skills.

11. A bully, that's it exactly
A bully who manages to impress the right people and lord it over everyone else. And she had a calm and poised manner most of the time, superficially pleasant but with a constant sardonic undertone to her words and manner. Ugh. Bad memories. I'm sorry you have to deal with one of those.

I wish I could offer some advice, but that's a very tricky situation. The boss at this job hated all manifestations of incivility or conflict, and it was very tough to bring the matter to his attention without being blamed for making trouble. Several of us had to very subtly undermine her in ways that appeared not to criticize her. Office politics, sheesh. I've played with some good ones, but I don't like the game.

Thank god there's not much of that where I am now. My two bosses yell at eachother now and then, but they both know to leave me alone to do my work or risk my wrath. In fact, they're both so lazy and uninterested in showing up at the office, I frequently have to cut them down to size in no uncertain terms. If I can't have benefits, I'll at least have their dignity in front of my co-workers. (The scenes in my office would make a great sitcom.)

12. OMG, that totally describes my boss!
I mean, I have three bosses, but one has slightly more authority than the other two. The diva is one of my lesser two bosses. My big boss hates conflict, cannot deal with it at all and has the spine of a jellyfish. So everyone is generally told to suck it up and deal, and not make trouble. While I get that every job has it's frustrations and you can't go around complaining about every little thing that goes wrong, Ms. Diva makes it completely impossible to get our work done. And when she fucks up (which is often), she points fingers at EVERYONE but herself.

My office is a combo of Office Space and Dunder Mifflin, only not as funny.

16. Where I work
They tend to promote stupid people who will just nod and drool when they try to put through yet another stupid policy. Upper management wouldn't want to surround themselves with people who might actually say "wait a minute, that makes no sense."

19. A variation on that theory is how I suspect my
"big" boss got promoted. She's really talented and smart, and a nice person. But she *never* goes to bat for us, ever. She acts like talking to the CEO is worse than approaching the Wizard of Oz. So anything he says goes, no matter how stupid the decision is. She's even afraid to stand up to my two other bosses, who are technically subordinate to her. She's actually complained to me about them like she has no authority over them. It's MADDENING. But I think he tends to promote people who won't stand up to him. In the case of my big boss, she's not stupid at all, just too scared. In the case of my diva boss, I think she just stroked his ego enough and acted like a yes-woman enough to get the promotion. Hopefully her ego will eventually become evident even to him, but who knows.

14. Just remember, "what goes around, comes around". She will eventually step on the wrong toes.
I've seen it happen many times. And the beauty of it is that it never took any interference or action on my part. People like that are destined to eventually fuck themselves, LOL!

28. There, there.
Oh, I used to deal with one of those. My old supervisor in her mid twenties, a few years older than I. Stereotypical Blonde Drama Queen who took pleasure in crushing the quiet brunette (me) in the dirt. We are bringing her back b/c I guess she needs a job in the Bush economy (mainly due to a softie small business owner, loads of new business (exports) and us constantly hemorrhaging new hires) I took over her desk when she left to have her second baby. She decided to not come back abruptly, and left us holding the ball, too.

And...two years later she returns. We now both have the exact same qualifications and experience. I handle her former workload easily and with less "drama." My new supervisor does not suffer fools like her and Drama Queen will be in another group. Management has completely changed since she was here last. Suffice it to say Drama Queen has not been rehired as a supervisor. She will be eating a lot of crow from day one and be forced to deal with a lot of people she stepped all over / burned bridges with -- as equals -- while being forced to work with us out of quiet desperation to support her children. I hope she learns a much needed lesson.

So the moral of the story is, maybe you will outlast this person in time. What goes around comes around. Karma, chin up, and all.

31. I know. Honestly, I don't want to outlast her.
The thing that's so funny to me is that she acts like such a fucking diva at such a shitty, worthless little company. She's a big fish in a small pond (or more like a putrid puddle of water) and she thinks that makes her so special. We don't make anything beautiful or worthwhile. We don't help people, or cure diseases. We make crappy products that sell at crappy stores. I said before, I have to admit I would get a great deal of pleasure seeing her walking out with a banker's box full of her stuff. But ultimately, the best revenge would be for me to go on to much bigger and better things while she is stuck here for the rest of her career.

Anyway, thanks. :hi:
