He's my favourite writer, can't get enough of his work. At present I'm in the midst of re-reading "The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle," which probably ranks just behind Kafka on the Shore on my list of favourites. Norwegian Wood is also fucking outstanding. Sputnik Sweetheart and After Dark are great too but I don't find them on quite the same level. "Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman" was also a highly enjoyable collection of short stories, my favourite revolving around aunts? Something like that. That had quite a profound effect on me.

Ah, what can I say. I love his characters, I love the worlds he creates.

1. My wife gave me The Wind-up Bird Chronicle for my birthday a couple years ago

Really fantastic. I also really liked Kafka on the Shore. My favorite is perhaps Hard-boiled Wonderland and the End of the World.

2. I was really excited for "The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle"

I didn't like it as well as I thought I would. I did like "Kafka on the Shore" better. Those are the only two I've read so far.
