it's been quite the evening...skunk-sprayed dog, yard reeks, strong odor in the house, extended dog bathing session...actually, the houise doesn't smell as bad now, though the yard still reeks...what fun.

...brilliantine dog (pictured below) decided that asserting her authority with a skunk in the backyard was a reasonable idea...



so at midnight we were out in front (the backyard reeked too much, and the skunk was still lurking around) washing her down with a hydrogen peroxide/baking soda/liquid-soap mixture.

It was a hot evening so we had all the doors and windows open at the time of the encounter...the house reeks.

And TODAY we have massive fire smoke covering the neighborhood, which adds to the joy of opening the windows...or turning on the A/C.

The curmudgeonly 18 year old cat is not amused by any of it; she has viewed "the dog" as nothing but trouble since she arrived:

3. Oh god...

The cat is a good judge of character. LOL. Dogs can be really dumb sometimes, have you ever heard of a CAT going after a skunk>> NO.

Hey, we had a hedgehog in the backyard last night, I touched it, before it curled up into a ball, very interesting, like a cactus ball. LOL. My husband put on leather gloves and moved it away from our neighbor's side (he hates all animals, long story) I got some pix, will post later, it was very cute. Better than skunks, I don't know if we have them over here?? Never seen OR smelled one. :shrug:
