Re: I AM Legend the film (spoilers)
What disappointed me the most about this film is the totally computerized zombies. After see films such as "Night of the Living Dead," "Dead Alive," and even "Shaun of the Dead," the zombies looked like cartoons. It did not help the film to have the protagonists watch "Shrek" because it reminded the audience how cartoony the zombies look. The key to having a truly scary zombie movie it to use real people with realistic blood makeup running from their mouths and red eyes. There were a few scenes of actual people with the KV-zombie-creating disease, which were effective, but too few. All in all a disappointment considering it was a remake of 1970s film "The Omega Man." In "The Omega Man" we see real people become albino zombies even the lead black woman, which is memorable.

1. The Vincent Price movie was better
"Last Man on Earth" (1964) was a very well done film version of Matheson's "I Am Legend." I thought the Will Smith movie was passable, but full of wasted potential. There were some fantastic moments (mostly involving impending darkness) and good scenery (seeing Manhattan deserted was so eerie) but overall I thought the original Matheson story to be much more fun. Taking the tale out of Los Angeles and putting it into cramped New York changes the dynamic completely.

Regarding zombies; I seem to be the only one who found the zombies from the "Dawn of the Dead" remake more intimidating due to their speed and fighting ability. Seems the original "Dawn" had better zombies in the eyes of most, but those bumbling, sluggish dimwits could only pose a threat if you did something ultrastupid (which amazingly living characters continued to do over and over).

2. Thank you. I will have to see that film.
"Last Man on Earth," I actually saw this DVD on sale at the local store. They also had "The Last Woman on Earth," that could be good, too.
