Awww man, I am now desk chair-less!
 I've been using an old director's chair as my desk chair for the past 10 years now. Well after 10 years of quite a bit of sitting the canvas bit on the bottom finally split. It had been fraying for a while now, but today it finally gave way!

I tried sitting on my ottoman but it was too low and my back started hurting, so now I've been relegated to the "comfy chair" in my room...yes, the dreaded comfy chair!

now I just need to find a close outlet to plug my laptop into

2. you'll just have to break down and buy a nice new chair, Rev.

you should see the old creaky chair that my husband uses for his desk. It's a disgusting old office chair he got at the Goodwill or something. Why he won't buy a decent one is beyond me....

I myself prefer funky seating from Ikea...

4. I honestly don't even know where this chair came from
I think I found it in the basement. I suppose I was living on borrowed time with that one

5. Noooo! Not the comfy chair!

At least you didn't kill a wooden swivel chair. I snagged it from my husband to use at my computer desk, and shortly after I gave birth Mr. MG was in the living room with MG Jr. and I sat down to do a little work, when...groooaaaannnnn...I felt myself tipping sideways. My fat postpartum ass helped facilitate metal fatigue, and the seat broke right off the base! Such a shame--it was a great old wooden chair. (And yes, I started my diet in earnest right then.)

RIP, director's chair. :hi:

8. lol
I'm glad I was in the process of gingerly sitting down as opposed to my normal plop otherwise I would have totally busted my ass!

the canvas had been getting pretty threadbare for a few months and it just decided to quit this afternoon...oh well...

6. It shouldn't be too difficult to replace that canvas, should it?
As long as that's all that's out of commission,
it should be an easy repair.

10. I don't even know what store would sell that
I could order it online but that would take endless *days* to arrive and I need my desk! :)

12. It's so easy to replace the canvas!

Fold chair up so you can unscrew the old canvas from the underside of the frame, then replace with canvas of your choice. Canvas, good heavy denim (blue, beige, or green) or any upholstery fabric, including outdoor rated, is available at any fabric store. You only need to buy 1/4 of a yard, especially if purchasing from an upholstery long bolt.
Cut to size using the old canvas seat, allow for 3/4 in on the outside edges where you will just have to add simple turned edge seams to keep the fabric from raveling.

Really! It IS very easy to do!

Or, you can order new covers for under $15
