So I want to be an MP3 player....finallly
Want brand should I go with? I've heard great things about Ipods of course but others have said that there are MP3 players that are superior and cheapter.....any suggestions?

1. I think it depends upon how many songs you want available.
You can get a 1 GB player for around $20.

5. I love iRiver MP3 players.
One of the first on the market and technically and, in my opinion, just as good as Ipod. My children have Sansa Ipods and they are also really nice and cost about $39. Good luck.

and like it. The battery performance is good, UI is good and it's comparatively cheap.
