I may never listen to Classic Rock again

I've been listening to radiopower.org's Analog Voyager channel at work lately, and I realize now that I was born waaaaaay, way too soon: I should have been a raver. This stuff is just too smooth. I think the first one that got me was Underworld's Cowgirl. Then it was DJ Shadow, What Does Your Soul Look Like? Pt. 4. I'm Dead by Millenia Nova. Destiny by Zero 7. It's a whole new world. Pretty much anything by Hallucinogen (Space Pussy, LSD) or Air (Dirty Trip) gets me off. A lot of others I'm still learning about. Fairenheit Fair Enough by Telefon Tel Aviv is pretty cool.

I've never had X, never been to a rave, and I dance like an especially inept white boy - unless I'm drunk, in which case I dance like an especially drunken, inept white boy - but it might be time for this old dog to learn some new tricks. Last night I found myself dancing alone in my living room because the music is so good I can't sit still. COOL! And I wasn't even drunk. :thumbsup:

I was always kinda into electronic stuff, but I totally switched teams for good a few years ago. I still dig some (but very little new) rock stuff, but I'm a hard-core techno/house head now. It *IS* the new rock, IMHO. ;)

It's never too late to start. I went to my first rave at the age of
41, and that was ten years ago. Prior to that, nearly all of my
dancing was at Grateful Dead concerts. I'm still a Deadhead, but
there simply aren't enough Dead shows for the amount of dancing I
need to do. (Though 5x Red Rocks last month was YUMMY!)

Funny, I seem to outlast most of the youngsters on the dance floor.

You should also check out Shpongle then (Simon Posford and Raja Ram).

BTW, it doesn't matter if you dance "like an inept white boy",
because most of the dance floor is dark.

4. I never (okay rarely) dismiss an entire genre

So I'm not giving up on rock -- I still love my art-rock, and prog-rock, and jam bands, and straight-forward hard-rock.

But I really got hooked on electronica/trance a while back. Don't own much (some Orb, Moby, Sandra Collins, a few others), but I've been trying to figure out if it would just be creepy for a chubby middle-aged guy to go to a rave sometime.

I did find a website a while back called Ravers Geriatric that gives me a little hope, but it doesn't look like there are too many out there -- and I can't seem to convince any of my friends to go, either.

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to stick to CDs and online music to get my fix....

7. I have loads of European friends

who's ages range from 17 to 40+ who regularly go to outdoor festivals (they don't *rave* 'cross the pond ;))...if we had a halfway decent dance following in this country, age wouldn't even be an issue :(
