He was hanged in Singapore. We only hope he raped, killed and then dismembered them in that order. But it's still tough. Reliving it in my sleep, the survivor guilt. Why me? Why did I live and those other young men did not? It does not feel good.

Sorry, takes time and I don't know if I can ever.feel OK about this.

Something that traumatic may always be a part of you, However it doesn't have to consume or define you. I am glad that you survived.

30. What makes it worse....

I never went to the police.

I had to walk past where it happened to get the bus to work. And one day there was a human foot on the sidewalk and the cops were dragging body parts out of a dumpster. And I stood there watching and thinking "I know who did this. And it's my fault. If only I had said something, done something!"

They never found out who he was. And I think of his family - never knowing what happened to their son, brother, loved one. And I feel complicit - If I had only said something, done something maybe it wouldn't have happened. So I feel guilty for his death. I don't know if anything I did would have changed things, but I don't know it wouldn't have either.
