Could not catch a break today
Sometimes, it seems like the universe is out to get you...

And, sometimes, the universe is out to get you...

This morning, it seems, the universe did not want me to get to the office on time.

It started with leaving the cap off the steam iron after filling it, and spilling water all over the work shirt I was trying to iron.

10 extra minutes drying the shirt...

Then, the Mattapan trolley drops a wheel on the way to Ashmont station.

(15 minutes, while the driver figures out that we're are screwn)...

Offloaded to a 240 bus, already packed to the gills...

(an extra 10 minute transit time to Ashmont).

Get there, just in time to miss the red line to Cambridge.

(another 15 minute wait)

The train comes and, when it gets to Charles MGH, I move to the door, so I can be the first to bolt from the train at Kendall MIT, and bound up the escalator two steps at a time.

I get there, bolt out of the train, I get to the gate, and the gate won't open.

I switch gates but by that time, another doofus has literally run to the escalator to get in front of me...

(okay, an extra 10 seconds, but still mighty annoying).

Finally, I get to the building entrance and, only then, realize I don't have my pass key.

I wave at the guard, who knows me, so I didn't have to present the pass key.

But then, I get to my floor and can't get in.

(wait another 20 minutes, for the next person to arrive at the office and let me in)....

Sometimes, I swear, God gives me a mind fuck, just to keep me humble.

2. Don't be sorry...
Today, is a memorable day for all the weird things that happened.

Today, is a day I can talk about.

Today, is not a day like any other; today is different...

Rather this, than mindless monotony...

God fucks with me, but in a good way...

:bounce:

3. Now I know why I don't work or live in Beantown!
:P

That sucks... what a hectic morning!

Mine was like that yesterday... nothing went right!!

I went to my dental appt. only to find out, after driving through tons of road construction
and late as I was, that they won't see me unless I cough up $100.00 from a bill from 12 years
ago that should have been covered by insurance! :grr:

I left in a huff, as I didn't have the money and I wanted to call the insurance company, so headed
home, through same construction, driving down 495 on E and move to passing lane to avoid a truck
and just cruising when out of nowhere, a state cop comes flying up behind me and tailgates me until
I move and then flies by me (late to lunch?), Did he have to scare the hell out of me?
There was plenty of room for him to go around! :grr:

I get home after getting gas at $3.65 a gal... :grr:

Then, I start cleaning up the kitchen and found a very important letter for Health Insurance returned...AGAIN!!
(3rd time!) needing postage and it had been sitting there for a few days! :grr:

I put it in a new envelope and headed to the post office stat to mail it and also get a money order for some
bills and when I got there, I had forgotten the pin # for that card! I had to go back home and get it from
my secret hiding place. More wasted time...

Then I get home, finally, and my neck goes into spasm... and I'm in a lot of pain! :grr:

What a frigging nightmare!

I feel your pain!

15. Yeah but I live 20 miles east...
of Boston, no public transportation in this rural area, not even a cab!
I have to drive through 3 towns in all directions to even get to a major
highway and at least 2 towns to find a train. That event yesterday took
me from 10:30 AM and I didn't get home until @ 2:00 PM. 4 hrs for nothing.

16. It's been a while since I lived there, but wouldn't 20 miles east of Boston
be somewhere in Masschusetts Bay?

8. Reminds me of the good ol' days trying to get from Newton to Chelsea
on the "T"...then the bus from Haymarket across the Tobin. Many a morning I ran up the stairs just in time to see the back end of the bus heading toward Charlestown.

Sorry you were screwn, Xipe. Hope your day got better from then on.
