*@$^@* Insurance company!
I was just told by the people at Mayo who are trying to get me my interferon that CIGNA says it might take as long AS THIRTY DAYS to go over my appeal! Meanwhile, I am running a bad risk for stroke, heart attack not to mention suffering symptoms.
Fuckers.:grr: :grr: :grr: :grr:

3. Get your HR department involved.
THEY are the ones who selected the plan. Get them to call CIGNA and make it right.

4. Why do we have insurance?
if it is not to pay for our treatment and medicine, then why pay the f***ing premiums?

What is their basis for turning this coverage down in the first place?

5. Its an expensive
and somewhat experimental drug (not technically FDA approved for my condition). Although there is lots of data in it. I don't mind Mayo having to justify giving it to me..But I didn't expect it to take so friggen long to go through the data!

6. Don't they have an alternative drug that is covered
until your insurance company approves?

And what if they turn it down, then what?

7. There is another (much cheaper drug)
I could go on..however the reason I was prescribed this new one..is because the other one had side effects. IF they don't recover the interferon, I suppose I shall have to go on the hydroxyurea..blah..its a chemotherapy drug...I was tired of barfing every morning.

9. That is so irritating.
Insurance companies have a long history of not wanting to cover experimental drugs and procedures. It is actually written into policies. I don’t think it is right that they can withhold payment for what your doctor has ordered, but they can. Having the Mayo Clinic on your side helps; but why can’t they speed it up?

That being said, I am sorry for the struggles you have had to go through just to take care of yourself. And you can buy medications at a lower price from Canada.

12. They're hoping
your condition is serious enough that you'll die before they end up having to pay for anything.

11. How much is it?
How much do you need?

Just wondering.

I can only sympathize. Fuckheads. I bet their adjusters are screened for illness during hiring to make sure they won't take the side of the patient.

14. Having Cigna and a Kid
With chronic health problems taught me a lot about how they operate their business. I ran into this type of problem with them ONCE. Call them again....keep in mind that all of their incoming calls are recorded. Once they feed you the same BS again, mention calling your lawyer and that fact that you were told (by Mayo) that you could possibly die without interferon. Emphasize this, trust me.....you'll have it approved in no time.
