I never expected him to read it out, but I am glad he did.

The email I sent him was:

Hi, Mike,

I am a new listener and I am actually an Australian citizen who is still in my home country. I am a lesbian in a committed, monogmous relationship with an American citizen. We are currently living apart because of the discriminating immigration laws the United States has.

Unfortunately I am not able to actually call your show at this time, because I can't afford the costs. Hence my emailing you directly.

My question is, how do you feel about the Federal Marriage Amendment? I am not asking you about your feelings on gays and lesbians in general, just more about how you feel about the introduction of a constitutional amendment that will deem a group of American citizens as second class?

Thank you, Mike. And thank you for a wonderful show. I hope you get picked up by someone else soon, so we have your brilliance back.

His reply was brilliant! (in no set order)

He talked about a certain amendment back in 1700 and something that deemed "Africans" as slaves.

He said that if the FMA passes that the United States will become known as the United Fascist States of America. He also talked about the danger it would be putting the LGBT community in. Meaning that homophobes will basically have an open invitation to muder, etc queers.

He also said that there is NO gay issues, just HUMAN issues. (Which I thought was brilliant. That is what people need to understand who do not support marriage rights for gay and lesbian couples. We are human beings. And humanzing the queer community is truly what is needed to be done.)

He went on a tirade about the LCR. Explaining to them that their wallets isn't what is important, more themselves. And he was damning them, but then he said something along the lines of, why should I damn you, you are living in hell every day, and that is your own fault.

He told me that basically if the FMA is passed to get my partner out, because why wuld I want to come and live in "hell?" (Well I don't, and if the FMA passes, I will be getting Sapphocrat out ASAP.)

Anyway, I just wanted to share my few minutes of fame with you. :)

I might have a working (old) sound card here somewhere...

Send me details of the sort of machine she has, and I'll dig through my junk bin and see what I can come up with.

However, sound cards are cheap if you know where to get them. An older ISA bus Sound Blaster shouldn't cost more than $15.
