WOW! Check out who just landed on my porch! (pics)
We live in a small city, and the biggest birds we get here are generally seagulls, and they never land on our railing. I was laying on the couch, and look who showed up!! :o

Sorry about the pic quality...He was much bigger than he looks here (assuming it's a he). Anyone know what kind of raptor this is? What a sight!

2. Some Buteo- I'd guess Red-tailed Hawk
Did its tail have a red tint?

3. You may be correct! They are rather common in MA
It was so cool! I was able to get up, get the camera, and get pretty close! He kept looking at me like "What are you lookin' at?"

:hi:

10. That's awesome
I keep camera right by the window. My thing is that when I move too fast the dogs think we are going to a circus or party. They both hop up all excited and scare everything off.

Glad you got the picture. I bet it seemed like a daggone pterodactyl up close!

:)

5. I'm guessing red-tail
based on size and belly pattern.

6. Wow!
You don't usually see red-tails land on a porch railing like that.

Don't get too close to him or he'll eat your liver.

11. I saw a red tail hawk
take a pheasant in mid air last week (Iowa). It had it on the side of the road eating it. I have never seen that before and may never see it again.

13. It's a good vantage of the cemetery across the street
so I wouldn't be surprised if the Red-tailed Hawk returns. If it was successful in hunting from that perch, it probably will!

18. Yep. Looks like a perfect place to spot the rodents in the cemetery.
Also agree with everyone who thinks it's a red-tailed both based on how it looks and where b_b lives. I used to see them everywhere around Boston.
