Angel to End After 5 Seasons

February 13, 2004 - In a move that has completely blindsided producers and fans alike, the WB Network announced late Friday that it was cancelling its long-running Buffy the Vampire Slayer spinoff, Angel.

"Those bastards!" was the reaction from Loey Lockerby, film critic and operator of Loey's Guide to Angel, an Angel review site. "I haven't trusted the WB Network since the debacle over 'Graduation Day Part 2.'"

Many fans like Loey have already turned to the first wave in most cancellations these days, PetitionOnline.com. An online petition has already gathered almost 5,000 signatures within hours of its creation. Lockerby expects that number to rise quickly once the word spreads.

The fans may have to fight this round on their own. David Greenwalt, co-creator and consulting producer for the series, sounded almost defeated when reached by the Zap2It website.

9. I can't believe they are doing it!

This season has been the strongest to date. In many cases it has been stronger than Buffy. I would hate to think they're going to cancel it.

10. What the hell?

Sure, Angel really sucked at the beginning of this season. All of that ghosty Spike was just too lame for words. Spike is only bearable as comic relief.

However, the show is getting much better. The last episodes were very good and the next seems interesting.

Can you believe that Charmed and The Surreal Life are still on?

12. Buffy's season 5 was its strongest season, and the WB cancelled it.

Now, Angel (again in season 5) is having its best year ever. And the dubbadubbadubbabee is going to cancel it.

Well, here's hoping UPN (or somebody) steps up to the plate to give us two more seasons.

NO Angel, but they're bringing back Mr.Ed. (Sherman Hemsley as the Horse. Yeah, I know it's a different Network, but still....) Oh yeah, Lost In Space will be back too. This time no Dr.Smith. :puke:

They all lack creativity. At least Angel and Buffy had their creative juices flowing.

Sometimes I wonder if big corporate tv executives know what they hell they're doing at all. It seems like they don't because of the recent cancelling of Angel.

Morans are definitely running this country. :(
