I submitted just 10 minutes ago after 2 weeks of deliberation.

I've written sonnets before but I was putting this one off. I must see if I can throw one together.

Not even a finalist.

Once in a Lifetime

It happens but once in a lifetime
Love springs its boundless energies in your direction.
The warmth is naturally sublime
guiding you to a life so close to perfection.

Suddenly you meet one who makes you whole
filling you with what ought to be
Pleasing your body, rapturing your soul
awash in love, your mind set free.

The ballet of love, a demanding sense of grace
dancing to the music of life's reprise
The music picks up, and a smile crosses your face
you are so happy, and this is my prize

I see you went with the English instead of the Italian format -- good choice. I had started one after your post but then had to answer a trouble call from work that turned out to be a false alarm so I never finished it. Maybe next year.
