My dog just went ape shit at the vacuum cleaner.
I held her as best I could until my husband was finished vacuuming, and when he was done, and wrapping up the cord, she started biting it and scratching. Dude, she just went out of her mind. I've never seen such a thing. She almost bit me trying to get me to let her go. Do your animals do this?

1. Yes
the vacuum is my dog's mortal enemy. He used to go nuts when he saw it - now he just runs in his kennel and hides when he sees it.

2. My vicious pit bull will run and hide under the closest bed until the evil vacuum
returns to its lair.

3. Duckie...
My boy dog is like that. He goes completely over the edge. He attacks it, growls, bites it, etc. It is actually kind of scary...I'm afraid he's going to hurt himself. I have to put him behind a gate when I vacuum.

6. I bumped into my feline Clancy with the vacuum when he was a kitten
THE DAMN THING WASN'T EVEN TURNED ON but 10 years later Clancy still goes apeshit when I just OPEN THAT CLOSET DOOR. :o

7. My old dog, Trix, may-he-rest-in-peace...
was scared out of his mind of the vacuumn cleaner. Would run away from it. But he didn't fear the lawn mower. I'd have to literally pick him up and move him because he refused to budge when the mower got near him. One of life's mysteries, I guess.

8. The beagle protects me from the vacuum cleaner.
When I gt it out, she comes right away and stands right in front of me, between me and the main part of the vacuum cleaner. When I had a canister vac, she'd stand between me and the canister. She stands in a very alert stance, turning her attention alternately between me and the machine but mostly watching the machine. EVery other animal I've ever known canine or feline, would run when the vacuum comes out. Not the beagle. She makes sure that thing doesn't get me!!

9. We had a dog that loved the vacuum but would attack the lawn mower
He'd lay on the floor and I'd vac around him...stop and lift his tail, vac under it. I even vacuumed him(with a hose and attachment of course) and he loved it. We'd do one side then he'd roll over and we'd do the other side.

But..he hated the lawn mowers. He looked like a crazed maniac biting at the tires of the rider mower.

I swear there's something in the sound of the motors that drives some dogs insane.

11. We had a dog that liked to be vacuumed too.
Funny little guy, he used to just stretch and make sure you got his tummy cleaned good. He didn’t much like being brushed, but he liked being vacuumed.

10. Maybe the dog knows that the machine
will emit loud screechy painful noise, so it hates the machine.

Like if I see Ann Coulter about to talk on TV, so I start growling and biting the remote control, and yelling "make it stop!!!".

:hi:

12. when I was a kid we had one of those vacuums where the body was
a soft cloth bag - you know the kind? Anyway, we also had a big German shepherd/husky mix who would attack the vacuum - once when my mom turned away from it while it was still going, Pippin (the dog) darted in, bit the bag, punctured it, and KILLED THE VACUUM. She was sooo proud of herself, and my mother was also very happy b/c she'd wanted a new vacuum and the dog just gave her the perfect, guilt-free excuse to get one.
