I want to own a Wawa.
They got everything I want - fantastic coffees and flavored creams, ciggies, and the cheapest gas in the nation.

And LOTS of construction dudes taking their coffee breaks in the parking lot. :P

1. *snort*
You just brought back some memories. When I went to college at the University of Maryland we went on several birding/camping trips to Cape May, NJ. None of us had EVER heard of Wawa before. We kept going WAWA!! everytime we saw one.
What can I say? College kids....

I went into one the other day and it had a massive coffee selection, Icee machines, smoothie machines and milkshake machines. Not to mention the Sizzli sandwiches are perfect hangover remedies

8. Don't I know it!!!!
I've never been in a Wawa that was empty - they're always rocking. The 7-11s around here are barely surviving, and disappearing as each year goes by.

Great coffee that's CHEAP.

Oldies music as you shop.

And gas under $3.00.

I WANT TO OWN ONE!!!!

37. At *my* Wawa...yes I refer to it as mine...
you can barely get into the parking lot between the hours of 7-9 am because it is so crowded...and there is a 7-11 literally across the street that never has more than one car in the lot (the worker I'm guessing). People will line up around the block to go into a Wawa but absolutely refuse to go into a 7-11 that is completely empty. They must put crack inside the coffee or something

Johnny Knoxville is a big fan of Wawa stores, ever since he came here to film some of the Jackass and Viva La Bam shows. He loved it SO much, he tattooed "Wawa" on his arm. Series.

Maybe we should be consulting with him on this....you know, being that he's Johnny Knoxville. Even better, I could get Bam to help us with the auditions. Holy shit - could you imagine?????11?????

Okay, first off, I don't know who Johnnie Knoxville is; never saw any of the Jackasses.

But get this! You know that pic I posted of the flag nekkid girls? I had just found that pic after a quick google search, but now I have come to realize that those girls are the Dahmer triplets. They are from Minnesota, born in '77. But it gets better!

Now, my dad is a retired OB/GYN, and back in '77, he was on call for his practice, and one of his partner's patients went into labor that night. And she was pregnant with twins! Well, as my dad is delivering the twins, he realizes that there is ONE MORE BABY IN THERE! TRIPLETS! And the name of the family? Dahmer! My dad delivered those girls whom I randomly selected for my post! Weird, in my book!

:wow:

And the name....Oops! It's actually "Dahm!" Their fame came IIRC when they posed for Playboy as a part of a "girls of the Big Ten" thing (they attended the U of M)-- but that's all of off the top of my head. I've actually never seen the it. The birth story was just told to me by my dad around the table within the past few years-- not sure how the topic came up.

watching TV, neither do I, actually....except for KO at 8pm EST. If MTV has the "Jackass" or "Viva La Bam" marathons, my boyfriend and I will watch.

Mostly, though, I just watch the DVDs. Dude, you GOTTA see it sometime - they just go out in public and do the craziest shit, play horrible pranks on each other, the works!!!! If your wife can appreciate the male sense of humor, she'll love it too. :)

62. For some reason, I actually get tense watching people get "punked" and find that kind of
"humor" demeaning. I like "inside" jokes and practical jokes, but they mustn't humiliate the victim. Instead of laughing at the victim's reactions, I'm always thinking "What if that were me? That would suck!" and I don't find suck situations in my life funny; more like I find that they suck. And having people watch a "punk" is inherently humiliating I think. The whole premise of the joke is to play on the good nature of the victim. That is evil, in my mind.

Now, a DOUBLE-cross is fairplay; seeing an asshat hoisted by their own petard can be very satisfying. But now the whole concept of TRUST is violated, and that sucks....

Additionally, it really pains me to see people take unnecessary risks with their lives. Seeing a young person putting on a helmet and running into a brick wall is just so... so... senseless? I don't know, but I do know that it isn't funny. My reaction is more like "weeping for our future."

Suddenly, I sound like a pretty humorless guy! Well, that's just me. :P

65. I think maybe you're thinking of the wrong show.
You may be thinking of the show "Punked". And yes - it has been, at times, just WRONG.

Jackass and Viva La Bam, are the same two groups of guys, and they are paid DEARLY for the stuff they do.....but I definitely wouldn't call it humiliating. They're all best friends - just knowing that makes it even funnier.

Damn, tamale.....why do I suddenly feel like a loser????

Eh, I gotta get back to work anyway.

Willingboro. He likes the Wildwood/Cape May area the best. New Jersey is a beautiful state, which I did not think so until my first visit. My coworkers still look at me funny when I tell them I am going on vacation in New Jersey.

His Dad's job bought the family here. Luckily, I met him after he had been here only about 30 days. So he had help to get over the culture shock. We both learned things. Like never put ketchup on meatloaf. That was my big no-no during my first dinner at his house.

83. Yeah, there are some beautiful areas here - our shore points are
heavily visited by out-of-staters during the summer months, primarily NYers and Canadians. Can't say I ever met anyone from Texas when I was hanging out in Wildwood! :)

My favorite spot is Stone Harbor...I'm sure your hubby is familiar with it, since it's only a few minutes from North Wildwood. The beaches are quieter, and yet the boardwalk is close enough to visit at night. I never get tired of it!

My boyfriend plays guitar....but my high school boyfriend was a drummer (he's friends with "Don't Call Me Francis" - ever hear of them?)

Without question, the drummer gets the workout in a rehearsal and/or gig. The HS boyfriend was also a star football wide receiver, in excellent shape...but damned if he wasn't sweating like a pig after 10 minutes on the drums. The shirt comes off, hair soaking wet. It was fun to watch. Heh.

Hey - Willow Grove AFB - they closed that down, right? Didn't they send all their equipment to Ft.Dix? Or did Rendell stop them from shutting it down?

84. The band plays around your area, if you want to see for yourself...
http://www.francisband.com/index.html

They have a list of all the clubs they play. I've seen them at Chickie&Pete's (Roosevelt Blvd) and Adelphia's (Deptford NJ). They're really good, and have been around a long time. :)

sounds like you miss it, eh?

West Chester - home of Bam Margera! :woohoo:

Did you hear he's trying to get a liquor license to open a club there? From what I heard, the town isn't too thrilled about it. LOL

39. That brings back fond memories of college in South Jersey...
Where else but a Wawa (conveniently located on every street corner in South Jersey)can you go for scooby snacks after staggering out of Louie's Inn at 4:30 in the morning?

70. First two years at Stockton when it was still one of the craziest
hippie party schools around. So many fun Friday nights on South Street in Philly, just a hop skip and jump down the Black Horse Pike. But my favorite place was Louie's on Jimmy Leeds road in Galloway, just a long walk from the school. 24 hour bar walking distance from the campus...what a combo...actually there was another 24 hour bar a short drive away as well...Kennedy's, I think. Favorite Wawa was on Pitney Road. Any time of day or night it was a scene. Crowded with dozens of college kids, mostly red-eyed and looking confused, but obviously having a good time.

I grew up in North Jersey and was always amazed at how much different "the south" was. People were mellower and life was slower paced. Didn't like getting called a "shoobee" by the locals, though. They could always tell if you weren't from South Jersey.

Betcha you miss the Tastykakes, don't ya? When my brother was stationed in Ft.Leonard Wood, Missouri, he went through Tastykake withdrawal, and I ended up sending him this megasized care package filled with Playboy mags and Tastykakes. :P

Don't you miss NJ too much, StrongBad....the car insurance is still through the roof, tolls are about to go up AGAIN (thanks to Corzine), and the highways are only getting more crowded. :)

Aside from WaWa, another NJ staple I miss is Dunkin' Donuts. Unfortunately WaWa has got nothing on DD coffee!!

54. They don't have DD in Cali?????
I'm a fan of DD coffee too.....but it's out of my way; meanwhile, there are at least 5 Wawa's on my way to work. :)

I do try to limit my DD visits, even when I pass one.....did you know that they're owned by the Carlyle Group (aka GWB)? Jeez - he's got his hands in everything!

64. Unfortunately there is no DD to my knowledge in CA at all
However, recently I have been seeing some commercials for them so I'm thinking they may be expanding sometime soon.

It is unfortunate that they are owned by Carlyle. I did not know that so I don't feel as bad for not being able to drink it everyday anymore :)

51. Yeah, well listen to this.....
about two years ago, they came out with a new flavored coffee "Chocolate Macadamian" or something like that. Really good stuff. A couple of months ago, they stopped selling it, no warning. Bastids. I asked them why, and the coffee chick said that they were "experimenting" with some new flavors.

BIG MISTAKE.

In MY Wawa, I will bring it back! :)

63. Just park down at the Wawa on a hot day, sit on the trunk of your car . . .
. . . and drink a Diet Coke.

If you don't get hit on, sue Coca-Cola for lying in their adverts.

79. I will miss the HELL out of Wawa when we move.
We're going to France in September - no Wawa's.

Wawa coffee is the best. Did you ever notice in Philly, you can carry a Wawa coffee in anywhere you go? Try that with Starbucks, they'll make you get rid of it, but Wawa coffee is like universally acceptable. And it's even good cold.

When we coordinate our schedules at work to make time for a conference, one of us in always in charge of making the "Wawa run" for coffee - like it's part of the conference itinerary. :)

81. My friend from Nutley who talks like 98% of the cast of the Sopranos, has a house down the shore.
Every time he says "I went to the WAWA," I have to laugh. It sounds so ridiculous.

He loves his Wawa, too.
