7. I have an embarrassing confession to make about capers.

Now, my mom uses them in cooking a lot, and I like them, but I never really gave them much THOUGHT, you know.

I had gotten this idea from somewhere in the back of my head...well, I thought capers were some kind of little mollusky animal, like teeny snails or clams or something. They were in that category in my head of "weird salty animal things my parents eat" (like anchovies). (Why yes, I DO put all sorts of things in my mouth without really knowing what they are or caring much.)

When I found out they were plants, while it might seem obvious to you, I was definitely surprised. This was...embarrasingly recently. :blush:
