Damned deer ate my pansies
A co-worker gave me a beautiful planter of purple and white pansies as a birthday present. I put them out on the front porch. The deer came in the middle of the night and ate every last one. I hate stinkin' white tailed deer.

2. Can't fire a gun in my county
Not that I own one. The county does hire sharpshooters to thin the deer herds every winter, but they breed like rabbits.

7. Is that tongue in cheek?
You gotta love bambie. Lucky you to be living where there are deer! My bunnies have all passed in the last 2 years. I loved them but when I let them run free in the yard nothing was sacred. You wouldn't have thought tomato vines tasted good. I am sorry about your flowers. I'm a flower lover, too.

9. I am in awe at the thought of the copycats on the way.
But doggone them deers. They know to eat only the plants you care about.

10. Sprinkle some human hair clippings around the planter.
They will leave it alone.

12. Here's a suggestion
Blood meal sprinkled around your plants has a twofold result. Blood meal is high in nitrogen so it's good for the plants. It is dried, powdered blood so it scares the deer into thinking there is a predator near. I stumbled on this concept quite by accident last growing season. I had spread blood meal around my corn plants and the deer never jumped the fence to eat the corn. After I harvested and removed all the corn and plants, I planted beans (they make their own nitrogen) so I didn't use blood meal. Deer jumped the fence and ate everything but the stalks. I later read about using it as a deer repellent. Don't over-apply as it can burn plants due to the excessive ammonia. Just a suggestion.
