a lot of people, especially females, don't have the sorts of jobs that make them impervious to financial hard times. and I doubt that anyone thought you were asking for a "handout."
When ppl have hard times, we need to help each other, and we need to be able to accept help - that's the hardest part - because this society judges people with hard times. -- which makes times harder for those experiencing them. Yes, your mom is there, but not everyone has that resource and it's no shame to acknowledge our interdependence. Sometimes it's important for people to be able to help others when they can - that's what builds a sense of community, imo.
I think I should win the powerball (but I'd have to buy a ticket, I guess) so that I could start a DUer fund for ppl who are in a tough spot. Oh, and that commune Proles was planning. And a nekkid yoga studio for Turtlesue. And a Led Zep reunion tour in the living room of that woman with all those quizzes... :)
