Kitty Pictures! Starting with Gray and Silver.

Here's gray in his favorite place in the whole world!

And here's another view of my darling beast. :loveya:

Here's Silver just hanging out and relaxing. He'll sit there like that for an hour or so, as long as I remember to keep petting him and scratching him on top of his head. :P

And here's both of them, cuddled up in their basket. Aren't they the cutest things you've ever seen? :7
Gray is on the left and Silver is on the right.

and demanding that you scritch him some more. :P

And he's a total tyrant about it. :)

I need to thank her again. She took the pictures. She also asked the vet some intelligent questions I didn't think to ask. :)

I need to convince her to post in the lounge more often. If you see her in here, please help me convince her to stick around.

Maybe she needs to see that she has a purpose here?
this is a good place for her if she is an "animal person", or if she is interested in politics or any other thing. DU has become such a "catch-all". A little something for everyone so to speak...

Would like to encourage your friend to visit this site....

Have been here on and off for over 4 years, one can pick and choose what they want to get involved in!

18. Your Kitties are cute!
How do i post my kitty pics? Mine are not as easygoing as yours, though...I never figured out how to upload pics to a DU post..never even figured out how to start a new thread...duh.

I do appreciate the fact that so many DUers are kitty lovers! None of my kitties are laid back enough to get a good pic, but that cou;d be attibuted to the fact that my camera has a very slow flash (sit still for over a minute..)

Anyways, thanks for the kittie pics! It's good to see so many pet-owners or can we say pet-owned people here...

40. You have to use a hosting site, like Photobucket.
If you have the pictures on your computer, Photobucket makes it easy to upload them to your account with them. Once you have them uploaded they give you a link you can paste into any thread to access any picture and display it. :)

My boy cats are pretty much the definition of easy going. Only Millie Dear, my girl cat, gets skittish.

They let me pick them up and hold them in any odd position or angle. The'll stay in my arms for long periods of time without getting restless or nervous.

It took a while after I took them in, but they developed a lot of trust in me. I have been good for them, and apparently they know it. :)

We don't really know anything about their kittenhood, because they were abandoned and then found. But they are so similar in appearance, and they clearly have never been separated, so they would have to be litter-mates. :)

29. They are so purr-ty!!
They look about as contented and spoiled as my two kitties. I can't believe someone actually threw them away in a box. Lord have mercy. I took in a puppy when I was about 16 years old that someone threw out in a park with her litter mates. They were all only a few hours old with umbilical cords still fresh from being cut. I fed her canned dogs milk with an eye dropper every few hours for weeks on end until I got her to eat solid food. She was the most loyal and loving baby and I had her for over 16 years before she passed away peacefully in her sleep. She followed me everywhere for all those years, never needing a leash because she would not leave my side for a minute. I could never leave her because she would not eat food for anyone else while I was gone and would hide under the bed. I took her everywhere I went because I was her mother. I really miss her.

80. He is at peace with the world
He gets to go out, and recon his territory (which I've discovered is very large after following his tracks in the snow) and come home to a relatively warm meal and a warm bed of his choice.

However, sadly, he's going to be locked up in a cage for 5 days while I attend my brother's wedding. He's never been in a cage longer than the time it took for me to get him from the house that evicted him in New York State (in winter, no less) to my place. I'm paying the extra amount for someone to play with him at least once a day, and I'm sure he'll take that opportunity to try find a way out. I'm already looking forward to picking him back up just to get him out of there, but it's for his own good. He's an outdoor cat, all my apartment rental decisions revolve around whether or not he has a stomping ground. So far he's gone from about 150 acres to the nearest 4 blocks.

Yeah, this post was more a confession/rant about caging my cat, than anything. They really touch you.

81. I hope he handles those five days reasonably well.
:(

That's going to be stressful for him.

You're doing a good thing though. You can't have him loose for 5 days in your apartment if he's going to be trying to escape whenever someone comes in to feed him. Especially if he might tear up the place in frustration being stuck inside.

And you can't just leave him outside to fend for himself for 5 day.

The cage is a necessary arrangement, but I can understand that both of you will be unhappy about it.

82. That's the thing
He's earned his 'Rambo' name, and he's fended for himself in the dead of winter here for two weeks, after we had 3 feet of snow. I had considered him dead, when he came flying through the window insulation (my roommaate had broken the window by slamming the door a week earlier) face first right through the plastic and jumped into my lap and wondered where the food was.

58. I've had 5 cats, and 3 of them would let me hold them
that way, or hug them upside down, or toss them over my shoulder. They pretty much trusted me and allowe(d) me to hold them any way I wanted. :P

One of those cats was my very first, Pixie, a gorgeous and humongus Maine Coone. And the other two are these two boys.

I had one other cat who was abused before I got him. He gradually trusted me enough to let me pet him, and trusted me enough to climb in my lap for affection. But he wouldn't let me hold him, and he wouldn't let anyone else come near him.

And I have one other cat now who is very skittish and hides most of the time. She only lets a few people see her and play with her. I'm the only one who can pick her up, and she only barely tolerates that because it's me. :)

57. i've been waiting to see these guys
they are SOOOO beautiful, cute, funny, etc etc etc etc. snowshoes AND tuxedos!!!

makes me miss my grey tuxedo tabby boy all the more:

i'm SO happy that you will have some more time with Gray. Junior, my grey boy, was very ill in 2002, but we got to keep him around until last year. the extra time means so much!

65. It really does mean a lot. I'm making the most of it ever day.
:)

Junior was a very stunning and beautiful cat. He was more starkly gray and white than my boys are. They've developed some light brown tones with age.

69. Junior with his brothers
Edited on Tue Mar-18-08 08:02 PM by musette_sf
his brothers really didn't get over losing Junior until December of last year. (Junior passed in April.) Ratso, the black one, still goes out back and calls for Junior :-(

they're all littermates, though they don't look like it :-)

70. That is my big concern with Silver.
He's going to miss Gray terribly. With my poor health I really can't adopt any more kittens, so who's going to keep him company? :(

Millie has to be kept separated from the boys because she's terrified of other animals and most people. But she likes being along. Gray is a very social cat.

72. the hardest thing
was watching George and Ratso look for Junior. Ratso really wasn't all right until Christmas week, Junior was his buddy. he's better now, but it does take time for them to heal too.

when the time comes... or maybe even before... maybe a local shelter or rescue group might have an somewhat elderly gentleman kitty looking for a home? i do think boy cats need boy cat company, if they are used to it.

68. Cute kitties!
I wish I had pets - but my mom hates them and my dad is allergic to anything with fur.

Oh well, someday.

Gray's eyes are kind of cool and creepy at the same time... it's kind of like they're drilling into my soul. :P

71. If you ever met Gray in person, you'd know immediately
that he's just commanding you to love him and give him lots of affection. :loveya:

He's the biggest moosh-ball you've ever met. :P
